Next,the group will head to New Belgium Brewing,where they will take part in a one-hour tour tolearn about New Belgium’s branding andsustainability strategy. New Belgium is aninternationally recognized microbrewery builton the core beliefs of committing toenvironmental stewardship, being a zero-wastecompany, and bringing craft beer to a morediverse audience. Tour costs includetransportation and tour fees. Limited to 40participants. Tour Fee: 75.00WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 267:30am – 6:00pmAtriumREGISTRATION OPENSTOURS8:00am – 5:00pmFull Day Tour: Outdoor Industry Company VisitsApparel Companies:Learn about the end-to-end supply chain ofprominent outdoor apparel brands located inthe Boulder-area in Colorado. The tour willbegin with a visit to Pearl Izumi and Fjӓllrӓven’sU.S. headquarters. Pearl Izumi produces sportsapparel, primarily focusing on road cycling, trackcycling, mountain biking, and triathlon. It wasfounded in 1950 with roots in Japaneseheritage. Fjӓllrӓven is “an outdoor clothing andequipment company that’s committed tomaking nature more accessible.” They are bestknown for their bags and gear. Next the groupwill go to downtown Boulder and have lunchand free time at the Pearl Street mall – anoutdoor pedestrian mall. Lunch will be on theirown, but restaurant recommendations will beprovided. The group will tour Fjӓllrӓven’s retailstore on Pearl Street Mall. Back on the bus, thegroup will go to Spyder headquarters, as the laststop on the tour. Spyder is an AmericanColorado-based manufacturer of luxury, highend skiing & snowsports apparel. Tour costsinclude transportation fees. Tour Fee: 75.009:00am – 12:00pmHalf Day Tour: VF Headquarters (North Face,Smartwool)Get an inside look at VF’s global headquartersand peek into how brands like The North Face,Altra, icebreaker, Smartwool, and Jansportoperate. The tour will take visitors into the 9.2B business, giving an inside look into theday-to-day activities of these brands. In 2012, theAvenir Foundation endowed the department,which allowed for the remodeling of the sixthfloor textile art and fashion gallery, which wascompleted in 2013 and includes the PreVIEWtextile conservation lab and the Nancy LakeBenson Thread Studio. In 2015, Florence Müllerbecame the current curator and has sincesuccessfully grown the fashion collectionthrough international and local acquisitions. Inthis tour, guests will get a behind-the-sceneslook at the textile collection and visit withFlorence Müller about past, present, andupcoming exhibitions. Walking Tour. Small groups willengage in intentional and specific conversationson ideas for teaching pedagogy, best practices,and specific instructional techniques used in theclassroom focused on 1) product development2) textiles 3) sustainability 4) group work and 5)engaging students in online classes ideas will beshared with the group to allow participants theopportunity to glean new concepts toimplement into their classrooms to promotestudent learning and success. All ITAA membersare invited to participate in this interactivesession to gather pedagogical ideas for theirclassrooms.
