Saint Philip Church622 Putnam PikeGreenville, RI 02828August 23, 2015Wisdom from a Mystic .Did you notice? Not once did they tell Me that they loved Me. Not once didthey give thanks for My gift to them, bringing My Divinity down to their poorhumanity to elevate them toward Me. Not a single time did they say: “ThankYou, Lord.” It has been a litany of requests and almost all of those whocome to receive Me are like that. I have died for love and I am risen. For loveI await each one of you, and for love I remain with you but do you realizethat I want your love? These words are from a little book entitled Live the Holy Mass: The TestimonyCall: 401.949.1500of Catalina. They are part of what the Church calls “private revelation.”FAX: 401.949.3504Catalina is a mystic who receives visions and words from Our Lord. In thiswww.saintphilip.comsmall book, some of the words, like those above, which Jesus spoke to Catalinaemail: office@saintphilip.comare recorded about the Mass.Sacrament of Reconciliation(Confessions)Saturday 8:30-9:00 AM3:00-3:45 PMFirst Friday of the Month6:00-7:00 PMMinistry to the SickPlease notify us if anyone is ill, inthe hospital or at home, whowishes to receive the Sacramentof the Anointing of the Sick orHoly Communion.Nursing HomesHoly Mass is offered monthlyand Holy Communion is servedweekly at the following healthcare facilities: Cortland Place,Hebert’s, North Bay Manor, andVillage at Waterman Lake.Sacrament of BaptismPlease speak with one of thepriests about dates for thecelebration of Baptism and theBaptism Preparation class.Sacrament of MarriageConsult one of the priests to secure a date and begin the Marriage Preparation Program.Priestly and Religious VocationsTelephone the Diocesan Office ofVocations at 401.331.1316.A Roman CatholicFaith CommunitySince 1852In the quote above, Jesus is talking to Catalina about Holy Communion andpeople at Mass receiving the Body and Blood of Christ at Holy Communiontime. They are words of lament, as Jesus notices that those receiving him do sowithout regard for what is truly going on. Jesus’ sad words are indicating thelack of thanksgiving and reverence and awe by so many who receive HolyCommunion at Mass.Am I one of them?During the serving of Holy Communion and inthe moments that follow, there should betremendous reverence and awe for what istaking place. The very Body and Blood ofChrist is being served to those who comeforward to receive his Living Flesh in theEucharist. Following this reception, thereshould be ample time for thanksgiving andpraise, telling Jesus in the core of our souls, where he resides, how grateful we are for hispresence with us and how much we love him.Sadly, many who receive Holy Communionare heading out the door, literally, not back totheir pews for thanksgiving and praise. Sadly, many are distracted by so many things thatJesus is all too often neglected. The time afterHoly Communion is a sacred and special timeof intimacy with the Lord of all life, the Savior who comes to dwell inour hearts in this Sacred Banquet. Let us take time to savor his presence,to “taste and see the goodness of the Lord” as the psalmist proclaims. Letus tell Our Lord and Savior how much we love him and how grateful we areto be with him. God bless you!Father Frank

Our Paving Project is moving along with a price-tag of 1,013,583.00!This is a massive project, and a long-awaited one. It has taken many, many months of planning, preparing, designing, and negotiating. We are grateful to Joe Casali Engineering, the firm we hired to conduct studies, hearour concerns, and develop and design plans for our parking lots, driveways, and walkways that meet all thestandards and stipulations of the State, Town, and Church. The paving project contract has been awarded to Mill City Construction of Lincoln, Rhode Island, at a cost of 1,013,583.00. Yes, it's a million-dollar project, costing a lot more than we originally planned and budgeted for.Much of the work will be done by the sub-contractor, a local business, Smithfield Peat Company with DarinClavet serving as Foreman of the job.Mill City is not expected to finish completely until sometime in October. Yes, that long! During the course ofthe project, there will be inconveniences and disturbances in our daily, usual routine. Patience and kindness willbe required by all of us with the understanding that these inconveniences are temporary and that we will be proudof and enjoy the final product for many, many years to come. At certain points, Funeral Masses may have to becelebrated at Saint Joseph's in North Scituate or at Saint Michael's in Georgiaville. Should that be necessary, the Pastors of both parishes would welcome one of our own priests to celebrate a Funeral Mass and our ownorganist, Mr. Ken Camara would provide the music. We will keep you posted regarding the progression of thework . and how we are going to pay for it!Saint Vincent de Paul SocietyNeed room in your children's closet for schoolclothes? Jon is known to many across the state of Rhode Islandand beyond for his prayerful, Spirit-filled music and his gentle, yet powerful prayer ministry. Jon will lead theFirst Friday celebrations on September 4, October 2, November 6, and December 4. A free-will offering will betaken up each Friday. All are welcome to come into “deeper waters” of faith, prayer, praise and worship of God.When Jesus had finished speaking, he said to Simon: “Put out into deeper waters and lower your nets for acatch.” Simon answered: “Master, we have been hard at it all night long and have caught nothing. But if yousay so, I will lower the nets.” Upon doing this they caught such a great number of fish that their nets were at abreaking point (Luke 5:4-6).First Friday Confessions are heard in the confessionals located in Our Lady’s Chapel of our Church on First Fridays from 6 PM to 7 PM.What a great way to observe the “First Friday Devotions” go to Confession, and stay in Church for anevening of song, prayer, worship, praise, and thanksgiving to the Sacred Heart of Jesus who is always calling usto “put out into deeper waters.” First Friday Confessions will be heard on Friday - September 4.
