But, raised in a familyof woodworkers, he was intrigued bya classified ad for a company calledMaui Custom Woodworks and theirsister company, Studio Snaidero Maui, and decided to respond.Jason’s grandfather was an “oldschool” woodworker, and he has a broth er and uncles who build custom homes. He did finish carpentry himself, and wasa foreman and prototype developer forKinderworks, a childrens’ furniture andtoy maker in Somersworth.“Although I was raised a woodwork er, I never thought that I would return tothat field after achieving my degree,” saysJason. But his vocation and avocationhave dovetailed well. He now serves asProject Manager and IT Director for thecompany, while continuing his contract ing business on the side.Born and raised in New London,Jason is appreciative of his time at NHTIand the support he received during hiseducation. “My parents (Jim and ClaudiaLewis) provided me with lots of supportand a roof over my head and actuallywere the ones that encouraged me togo to NHTI in the first place,” says Jason.“They were incredibly supportive.”
