A largediameter Air/Vacuum Disc provides high volumeair flow for rapid venting during pipeline fillingand allows high volumes of air to enter thepipeline during draining. Float Shape Designed for StabilityThe unique float shape reduces the ballistic effect ofhigh speed liquid flow into the valve, further addingto float stability. The float shaft is fully guided toprovide smooth, long lasting operation.No Troublesome LinkageUnique disc air release venting concept eliminateslinkages that can foul on dirty service applications.Reliability Without ConstantMaintenanceClean interior design and the direct shaft mountedfloat eliminates troublesome linkages that canlead to frequent maintenance. Valve OperationUnique Combination Air Valve TechnologyThe patent pending design of the ASU CombinationAir Valve features multi-stage air release operationand air/vacuum service provided by the Air/Vacuum Disc.Pipeline FillingPipeline FillingNormal Flow:Low Air BleedPipeline FullDuring pipeline filling, the Air/Vacuum Disc remainsopen allowing high volumes of air to escape.When the pipeline is full, fluid enters the valvewhich raises the float and lifts the Air/Vacuum Discinto the closed position. Valve is completely sealed;Air/Vacuum Disc seat, piston stem seat and floatshaft seals are all in the closed position.6Dual Range Air ReleaseDuring normal system operation, air escapes fromthe fluid, collects at high points in the pipeline, andenters the valve. When enough air collects in thevalve, it causes the float and float shaft to movedown. In this minimal air release mode, the floatposition allows the valve to release a small amountof air past the float shaft seals. The released air isreplaced by fluid entering the valve inlet, raising thefloat to the valve's closed position.www.dezurik.com

Normal Flow:High Air BleedIf a larger amount of air collects in the pipelineduring normal operation and enters the valve, itcauses the float and float shaft to move down evenfarther causing the upper part of the float shaft toseal off the piston chamber. Trapped air continuesto accumulate in the piston chamber, causing apressure imbalance. The piston moves down,allowing the valve to release a larger amount of airpast the piston stem and seat.www.dezurik.comPipeline DrainingWhen the pipeline is drained, or if a sudden breakoccurs, the valve quickly opens allowing highvolumes of air to enter the pipeline. As fluid level inthe valve drops, the float and float shaft move down,which allows the Air/Vacuum Disc to drop down,opening the pathway for high volume air to be pulledthrough the valve, reducing the risk of pipelinecollapse due to excessive vacuum.7
