Page 3Vo lum e XXIII, I ssue 7, April 2017April SpeakerDebby Kratavil will be our speaker on April 26. The subject of her lecture is “Shortcuts from a Short Woman.”“This is a trunk show bursting with tips, tricks, shortcuts and a varietyof innovations that will satisfy any quilter. I demonstrate traditionalblocks made with non-traditional methods. With 25-35 quilts I showquick ways to create otherwise difficult blocks and finishing techniques:taking out the y-seam on Lone Stars; no handsewingof quilt labels, rod pockets and binding - no kidding! Iam always making new samples, so every time I givethis trunk show I have at least a dozen new quilts using the latest fabrics. I am the Queen of Tips andTricks and I love to share these things to make yourquilting life easier and more fun.” Debby's idnight MadnessWe had 18 people in attendance and everyone had a greattime. I saw progress being made on UFO’s, work on several baby quilts, blocks of the month and other projects. We had both hand sewers and machine projects. Dinnerwas from Panera. The goodies were a fat quarter, spool ofthread and a peel. Kathye Gillette of Quilters Studio wasgenerous as always letting us shop duringthe event. What about having another inthe fall? Let me know if there is an interest. Possibly late September or early October? Karen Brewster
