Fellowships and Scientific Visits
FELLOWSHIP (FE) is a specialized training for juniorprofessionals: on-the job training, long term academictraining (MSc or PhD), sandwich training and e-learning.Duration: at least 1 month
Fellowship: Selection Criteria awarded to junior professionals with auniversity degree or equivalent; and with atleast 2 years' experience in the project/field academically or technically qualified, includinglanguage skills be able to apply the training received withintheir country upon return should not normally be awarded a fellowshipuntil at least two years after completion ofprevious training
SCIENTIFIC VISIT (SV) is a specialized programme forexperienced professionals who hold a senior advisory ormanagement position.Maximum 2 weeks duration; maximum 2 countries
Scientific Visit: Selection Criteria awarded to senior staff with at least 5 yearsexperience in the project/field holds an appropriate advisory or managementposition age limit: 5 years below the retirement agefrom the home country

Organization of SV/FE Individual training program is developed for a new recruited staff taking into accounthis/her qualification:– A university student was recruited– Person from industry moved to work in the regulatory authoritySV/FE application form is completedNLO/NLA reviews application form and if information is incomplete can return forrevision/improvementCounterpart can suggest the host institution by indicating this in the application. Theycan also establish informal contact. However, it is up to the IAEA to select the host andlength of the training.Upon return:– Fellow/Scientific visitor prepares report– FE/SV materials are handed over to library and saved in a dedicated file in intranet– Seminar is organized where he/she presents knowledge gained
Hosting SV/FENational Center of Oncology (NCO) of Ministry of Health (MoH) of Armenia hostedSV and FE:Upon receiving FE/SV placement request from IAEA the following measures areundertaken:- NLO/NLA prepares official letter addressed to the MoH of Armenia hostorganization and supported by IAEA request and FE/SV application form- NLO/NLA can also contact NCO unofficially to discuss if they can host SV/SF andassociated issues and inform IAEA- When official confirmation from MoH is received NLO/NLA notifies the IAEA
Host organization Develops the training agenda andsubmits to the IAEA (which is thenforwarded for internal evaluation)Informs IAEA in case of any fees forinstance to cover laboratory costs orin case it will need scientific travel torelevant facilitiesTakes care about accommodation offellow/scientificvisitor,transportation, visa arrangementsand other issues that may raise,provides with training materialsThere are cases when the hostinstitution does not require trainingfees and their efforts are consideredas in-kind contribution to IAEAtechnical programme
