Sonic XP Duct Liner with ECOSE TechnologyDescriptionKnauf Insulation Sonic XP Duct Liner is a flexible,mat-faced insulation bonded with ECOSE Technology. It is faced with a tightly bonded matto give the airstream a smooth, tough surface, resisting damage during installation and operation. The encapsulant edge coating eliminates airstreamflaring.ECOSE TechnologyECOSE Technology is a revolutionary binderchemistry that makes Knauf Insulation productseven more sustainable than ever. It features rapidlyrenewable bio-based materials rather than nonrenewable petroleum-based chemicals traditionallyused in glass mineral wool insulation products.ECOSE Technology reduces binder embodiedenergy and does not contain phenol, acrylics orartificial colors.ApplicationSpecifically designed as an interior insulation materialfor sheet metal ducts used in heating, ventilating andair conditioning. Provides an optimum combination ofefficient sound absorption, low thermal conductivityand minimal airstream surface friction.Features and Benefits Low thermal conductivity Fire-resistant, non-corrosive, durable and resilient Tough, tightly bonded mat facing Excellent sound absorption Energy conservation Better temperature control I f necessary, can be cleaned in accordance withNAIMA’s “Cleaning Fibrous Glass Insulated AirDuct Systems Recommended Practices.”Technical Data Knauf Insulation achieved UL GREENGUARDGold Certification. Longitudinal joints in duct liner shouldnot occur except at the corner of ducts.Longitudinal joints in liner shall be coatedwith adhesive. All damaged areas of the airstream surface shall be repaired with anadhesive which conforms to ASTM C 916.*Widths of 34″-36″ not available with edge coating.**Non-standard widths for all .5″, 1″, 1.5″, and 2″ products from 34″-36″, 46″-48″ and 56″-72″ are available in 25″ (6.35 mm) increments ofminimum order quantity. Metal nosings shall be securely installed overtransversely oriented liner edges facing theairstream at fan discharge, at access doorsand at any interval of lined duct precededby unlined duct. In addition, where velocitiesexceed 4000 fpm (1219 mpm), metal nosingsmall be used on upstream edges of liner atevery transverse joint (See illustration)Limitations Knauf Sonic XP Duct Liner with ECOSETechnology should not be used in systemsoperating at velocities exceeding 6000 fpm(1829 mpm) or at temperatures above 250 F(121 C).Glass Mineral Wool and MoldGlass mineral wool insulation will not sustain moldgrowth. However, mold can grow on almost anymaterial when it becomes wet and contaminated.Carefully inspect any insulation that has beenexposed to water. If it shows any sign of mold,it must be discarded. If the material is wet butshows no evidence of mold, it should be driedrapidly and thoroughly. If it shows signs of facingdegradation from wetting, it should be replaced.Air handling insulation used in the air stream mustbe discarded if exposed to water. For more information call (800) 825-4434, ext. 8283or visit us online at www.knaufinsulation.us
