This is our first meeting specifically targeting issues ofinterest to Associate Chiefs of Staff for Research, AdministrativeOfficers for Research, and Research Compliance Officers. All of theideas for this meeting were generated by the field. The goal is toidentify ways to improve VA Research – including enhancingteamwork among individuals in the field, and between the field and VACentral Office. Our approach is to focus on issues raised by you inthe field, and we are counting on you to contribute your questions andideas, and to share your experiences with your peers to ensure thismeeting is relevant to your needs. We hope you enjoy the meetingand find it a valuable resource for strengthening your ResearchProgram.Welcome to Baltimore and thanks for participating in the ORD/OROLocal Accountability for Research Meeting. This meeting representsthe continuing commitment of ORD and ORO to listen responsivelyand work together in a results-oriented effort to address the manyconcerns put forward by the research community. Please be openwith us in expressing your questions, frustrations, criticisms,suggestions for improvement – whatever! We’re here to listen and tohelp.
