Chain of Command / How to Effectively Communicate with SchoolOfficialsParents are often discouraged when they attempt to communicate with centraloffice administrators and are sent back to building-based officials in order toresolve a problem their child may be experiencing in school. To prevent thatfrustration, parents can become informed about the “Chain of Command,” orwhere to begin the communication sequence regarding their child’s problem. Many parental questions are easily and completely answered by communicatingdirectly with the educator in charge of the class or program. Each situationshould first be addressed at whatever level the initial action was taken, withappeals moving on to the next level on the chain of command. The easiest wayto communicate would be by email(Email format: last name;first initial@middletownk12.org). A phone callwould be the next preferable way to communicate. On Matters Involving Instruction (Middle and High Schools)1. Classroom Teacher or Case Manager2. Guidance Counselor3. Assistant Principal4.
