Pipe liners are manufactured using the paste extrusion process to increasepermeation resistance, produce a smooth interiorsurface and provide improved structural stability. Various customized processes, such as isostatic molding;paste extrusion; and injection and transfer molding, areused in the manufacture of the fittings.

Quality AssuranceInspection and HandlingThe performance and longevity of PTFE lined pipesystem components depends on the quality control ofdesign and fabrication processes, as well as shipping, handling and storage practices. RMB Products considers quality of paramount importance. Quality controlteams inspect and test all PTFE lined pipe componentsto ensure they meet or exceed ASTM F1545 specifications. RMB Products is ISO 9001:2008 certified.Shipping, Handling and StoragePrior to shipment, all sealing surfaces of lined products are covered by a flange protector. Removal of theflange protector should occur only at installation. Forcases in which testing is required before installation, flange protectors need to be reinstalled immediatelyafter testing.Inspections Performed Prior to LiningAll metal pipe and fittings are visually inspected beforelining. The interior will be smooth, clean and free ofburrs, scale or any other deposits. Internal welds areground smooth.Slings, chains or lifting equipment should not be placedinside lined products or otherwise come in contactwith the plastic liner. Extreme care must be taken atall times when loading, transporting and unloadingproducts to and from a truck or trailer. Use chains andslings to lift the spools rather than drag them.Pipe liners are examined for pinholes, cracks, gouges, nicks or foreign objects.Avoid storage in direct sunlight or other severe conditions. Storage under cover is recommended.Tests and Inspections Performed After LiningFittings are hydrotested at 1.5 times the design pressure; spools are hydrotested upon request. All components are subjected to an electrostatic spark test perthe NACE SP0274 standard.Consult RMB Products when handling and installingcomponents in extreme temperatures. Liners becomebrittle in temperatures below 40 F.The liner forming the flange gasket sealing face isvisually inspected for smoothness. The liner will be freeof defects (pinholes, cracks, gouges, nicks or foreignobjects). Any imperfection will not exceed 10% of thesurface.Protection of the flare faces is necessary duringhandling, sandblasting and painting. Do not plug ventholes.Failure to follow shipping, handling and storage instructions will void the product warranty.Lined pipe and fittings are checked for dimensional accuracy and tolerances in accordance with dimensionaldata listed within this catalog and ANSI specifications. After final inspection, a flange protector is installed oneach flange prior to any further handling of the part.rmbproducts.com · RMB Products7

Installation InstructionsDo not remove flange protectors prior to installation to prevent damage to the sealing surface. Flange protectorsshould be replaced any time the item is removed from service.Recommended Bolt TorqueRecommended torque ratings are based on lightly lubricated A193 B7 bolts and A194 2H nuts. When bolting dissimilar liner materials, use the lower torque value.ANSI Class 150 SystemLightly lubricated A193 B7 bolts and A194 2H nuts.Use the lower torque value when bolting dissimilar liner materials.NPS (inches)1PTFEMaximum Bolt Torque 101 1/22346810121525304060707595(foot-pounds)Bolt Torque SequenceFinger-tighten all nuts and bolts. With a calibrated torque wrench, tighten each flange connection in a crisscrosspattern (refer to figure). Using this pattern, tighten in 20% increments up to 80% of the final bolt torque. To achievethe final torque value, tighten bolts in a sequential clockwise pattern once around the flange. Maximum recommended torque is suggested for systems that will be operating at or near the maximum pressure and temperaturelimits of the liner or conveying small molecular gasses.137421754285936111431210628RetorquingAfter the initial installation, we recommend checking the torque of each bolt after 24 hours have elapsed or a temperature cycle or pressure cycle (hydrostatic test) has occurred. Any bolts falling below the recommended valueshould be retorqued. Values should only be exceeded by 10% increments when necessary to reseal. All torquingon the process system should be done when the system is ambient and cool.Retorquing should be performed annually, especially if the system experiences elevated temperatures or extremetemperature swings.8RMB Products · rmbproducts.com

Installation InstructionsOther Installation GuidelinesWelding should not be performed before or after theinstallation of lined pipe components.Vent holes should not be plugged. Do not use sharptools to clean plugged holes. We recommend vent holeextensions for insulated pipe and fittings.Gaskets must be used when bolting components todissimilar products made from metal, glass, fiberglassor other materials. Otherwise, gaskets are not requiredfor bolting together lined piping systems unless repeated connections and disconnections are made.Do not remove pipe spools and fittings from systems atelevated temperatures. Always install a flange protectorimmediately after the component is removed.ANSI Class 150 Bolt and Stud LengthsThicknesses calculated using A193 B7 bolts, A194 2H nuts and flat washers on both sides.NPS (inches) Bolt Length (inches)FixedLap JointStud Length (inches)FixedLap Joint12 1/22 3/433 1/41 1/22 3/433 1/43 1/423 1/43 1/244 1/433 1/244 1/44 1/243 1/244 1/44 1/264 1/44 1/255 1/484 1/44 3/455 1/2104 1/25 1/45 1/26124 3/45 1/25 1/26 1/4rmbproducts.com · RMB Products9
