The worker wascontacted and warned.Carmel-by-the-Sea: CPD units respondedto the Del Mar parking lot on a report of a runaway vehicle into a fence. The driver of thevehicle had left the transmission in neutral andhad not engaged the parking brake. The vehiclerolled across the parking lot, jumped a 10-inchcurb and crashed through a gate/fence onOcean Avenue. It was unfounded.Carmel area: Person reported the attempted theft of UPS packages by an unknown maleteenager.Carmel Valley: Victim reported bothlicense plates were taken from his vehiclesometime during the last three weeks.Carmel area: Suspect was the driver of avehicle stopped at Rio Road and MissionFields Road for expired registration. Suspectwas found to be on probation with a search andseizure waiver and driving on a suspended driver’s license. A search of suspect’s vehiclerevealed prescription medications for which hedid not have a prescription.Carmel Valley: A Carmel resident at ValleyGreens Drive and Valley Knoll was cited forpossessing less than 1 oz. of marijuana. Casecontinues with the Monterey County DistrictAttorney’s Office.WEDNESDAY, MARCH 17Carmel-by-the-Sea: A 20-year-old maledriver was stopped on Highway 1 for a vehiclecode violation and found to be under 21 andunder the influence of alcohol. All three occupants, including another 20-year-old male anda 19-year-old male, were found to be in possession of alcohol as minors, and the driver alsohad marijuana. All three were cited andreleased to their mother. The vehicle wastowed.Carmel-by-the-Sea: Person reported finding a wallet at the Sunset Center. The owner ofthe wallet was contacted, and the wallet waslater returned to him, along with the items thatwere in the wallet.Carmel-by-the-Sea: A citizen found aloose dog in the area of Ocean and Carpenter,and brought it to the police department forsafekeeping. The owner’s information wasfound via a microchip number. The officerattempted contact with the owner via telephone, and a message was left. Later, the ownercontacted the police department to obtain thedog. Dogwas taken to CPD, owner notified and feeswere paid, and it was discovered to be the samedog that the resident was calling about thissame day. Owner of the dog believes the resident let the dog out of the gate. Owner of thedog will attempt to secure the gate better, possibly get a bark collar and will follow up withthe animal control officer as to what she can doabout the neighbor’s possibly letting her dogout of her yard. Owner’s concern is the dog orsomeone could get in.
