Message from the PresidentThere may still be some lingering snow around, and temperatures are slow to rise, but Spring iscoming! (Thank goodness!) In addition to cleaning out the garage, dusting off your baseball mitt, andclearing the garden for new plantings, spring means it’s time to prepare for ASHRAE’s annualWebcast. This year, the free program will take place on April 17 from 1:00 – 4:00pm on Buildings inBalance: IEQ and Energy Efficiency. ASHRAE has identified several industry leaders to come andpresent on the topic, who will focus on identifying the link between energy efficiency and indoorenvironmental quality through the integrated design process. The webcast is approved for 3.0continuing education credits, so don’t miss this opportunity! Employment OpportunitiesNEW OPPORTUNITYAssistant Project Manager to Senior Project Manager – R&D – Buildings Program –Heating and Cooling – Albany Office (#261)The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) is seeking a creative, selfmotivated and experienced individual to procure and manage a portfolio of R&D projects in thetechnology area of heating and cooling for residential, multi-family, commercial, and institutionalbuildings. Technologies include space heating and cooling, ventilation, and domestic hot water utilizingvarious forms of input energy – electricity, natural gas, oil, biomass and renewable. The Heating andCooling Program is part of a multi-faceted NYSERDA Buildings R&D program focused on advancing thedevelopment and application of energy efficient building related technology. Towards this objective, theBuildings R&D program works through partnerships and collaborations with many small-to-large sizedNew York businesses, technical universities, DOE National Laboratories, industry trade groups and otherorganizations. While the position’s focus will be predominately on heating and cooling technologies, theproject manager may be assigned to work on other building related technologies for programdiversification or as needs demand. The project manger responsibilities will include managing a portfolioof R&D projects ranging from 15 to 25 projects with an aggregate value of approximately 10 million.The Project Manager’s primary responsibilities will be to: Develop and promote solicitations to procure projects in the relevant technology areas Organize and lead a Technical Evaluation Panel (TEP) review of solicitation proposals Document and present TEP results to senior management Develop documents and support contract negotiations for awarded projects Manage projects in relation to stated goals, tasks, schedule, and budget Facilitate technology transfer from R&D to NYSERDA’s d
