The tests include:multiple-choice questions that assess vocabulary, grammar, reading, and listening skills; short-answerquestions that cover lifeskill competencies and basic literacy tasks (such as reading medicine labels andfilling out forms); writing assessments that can be evaluated using a standardized scoring rubric andcollected in portfolios of students’ work; and speaking performance assessments designed to stimulate faceto-face interactions between students, for evaluation by the teacher using a standardized scoring rubric, orfor self-evaluation by students.
