Amen.WEEKLY REFLECTIONWho wants to be last? Isn't it only natural to desirerespect and esteem from others? Jesus' parable of theguests invited to the marriage feast probes ourmotives for seeking honor and position. Selfpromotion is most often achieved at the expense ofothers! Jesus' parable reinforces the teaching ofProverbs: Do not put yourself forward in the king'spresence or stand in the place of the great; for it isbetter to be told, "Come up here," than to be putlower in the presence of the prince (Proverbs 25:67).

What is true humility and why should we make it acharacteristic mark of our life and action? Truehumility is not feeling bad about yourself, or havinga low opinion of yourself, or thinking of yourself asinferior to others. True humility frees us frompreoccupation with ourselves, whereas a low selfopinion tends to focus our attention on ourselves.Humility is truth in self-understanding and truth inaction. Viewing ourselves truthfully, with soberjudgment, means seeing ourselves the way God seesus.True humility frees us to be our true selves and toavoid despair and pride. A humble person does nothave to wear a mask or put on a facade in order tolook good to others, especially to those who are notreally familiar with that person. The humble are notswayed by accidentals, such as fame, reputation, success, or failure.Paul the Apostles, gives us the greatest example andmodel of humility in the person of Jesus Christ, who emptied himself, taking the form of a servant,.who humbled himself and became obedient untodeath, even death on a cross (Philippians 2:7-8). TheLord Jesus gives grace to those who seek himhumbly. Do you want to be a servant as Jesus served?Jesu s sa id : "Whe n yo u ar e in v it ed b yso meo ne t o a wedd ing banq u et , do no tr eclin e at t ab le in t he p lace o fho no r Rat her , when yo u ar e in v it ed , goand t ak e t he lo west p lace”RELIGIOUS EDUCATIONGrades 1 – 8The Religious Ed Office Summer Hours are12:00pm – 3:00pmDon’t put off enrolling your child for ReligiousEducationAll Catholic children in public school or preparingfor Communion and Confirmation should ※※※※※※SILVER AND GOLD WEDDINGANNIVERSARY MASSCouples, were you married in 1972 or 1997? TRUE FRIENDSHIPWhat is friendship – true friendship? Based on sacred scripture, we should think ofit as a deep understanding between two people that has no sexual component: it is aunion of two souls, not two bodies. The ancients said that friendship is to have "onesoul in two bodies." It can be a stronger bond than that of family. Family consists inhaving the same blood in one's veins. In friendship one has the same tastes, ideals, interests.Friendship is different from love of neighbor – love of neighbor requires us toembrace everyone, even those who do not return our love, and it includes loving ourenemies. Friendship is not one-sided. It demands reciprocity; you love your friend, and your friend loves you in return. Without mutual love, (which includes mutualtrust and respect), there is no true friendship. The Bible is full of praise for, and guidance about friendship. Here are a few linesfrom Sirach Ch. 6 to guide us in choosing our friends wisely.6Let your acquaintances be many, but for advisers choose one out of athousand 7 If you want to make a friend, take him on trial, and do not be in ahurry to trust him; for one kind of friend is so only when it suits him but will notstand by you in your day of trouble 13 Keep well clear of your enemies, and bewary of your friends 14 A loyal friend is a powerful defense: whoever finds onehas indeed found a treasure.15 A loyal friend is something beyond price, there is nomeasuring his worth 16 A loyal friend is the elixir of life, and those who fearthe Lord will find one 17 Whoever fears the Lord makes true friends, for asa person is, so is his friend too.(Sirach 6:5-17)Courtesy, in part, Fr.
