Highperformance insulating glass, with Heat Mirror SuspendedCoated Film Technology, was fitted throughout the school.Working as fast as possible to manufacture products in a shorttime frame, with extended workdays and larger installationcrews, we were able to meet the deadline.9

Kawneercollaborated on the new, larger K-12 development withVersoleil SunShade products.We worked with Valley Building Specialties to develop amodified variant of our 1600 SunShade to control naturallight during school hours. K-12 schools built with Kawneer’s innovativesolutions have been proven to increase student productivityand performance on cognitive tests, while reducing energycosts to become more sustainable.When designing Hot Springs Intermediate School, the objectivewas to create an energy-efficient building using the budgetand materials available.We manufactured the outside of the vertical sunshade fromstorefront door rail materials, while the inside is glazedwith perforated panels. The sunshades featured throughoutthe school’s exterior were designed to meet the Hot SpringSchool District’s energy requirements, with each oneproviding maximum sun control.Hot Springs School District is now occupied by 700 fifthand sixth graders, features a physical education building,auditorium and an elaborate arts wing. The school nowbenefits from an open floor plan, abundant natural light,reduced energy consumption and state-of-the-artteaching resources.13
