Your Illinois AGD Officers and Board of Directorsare busy working to prepare for the Annual AGDNational Meeting which is in Baltimore this year,July 8-12. We are going to be represented this yearby 8 delegates and 7 alternate delegates. In the monthbefore the Annual Meeting, all of those delegatesand alternates will be meeting in a pre-caucus tobecome aware of the details of the resolutions to beacted upon and to enable us to raise our voices forall Illinois general dentists. We are yourrepresentatives, so if there are any issues you wantto call to our attention, please let us know. I have been wearing the hatof CE Chair much longer than I have been wearingthe hat of President.Illinois AGD has been active in your behalf inadvocating for the general dentist concerning issueson a local, state or national level. We often work inconcert with the ADA, ISDS, and CDS when theconcerns of the general dentist are underconsideration at any level of government. CAGDReportDr. Cheryl MoraPage 6My term as President of Chicago AGD is almostcomplete, and it has been a great honor to work withall the board members of Chicago AGD and IL AGDfor the past year. Both organizations have workedvery hard to provide CE programs that have beeneducational and fun. If you have not attended anyof our courses in the past, I encourage you to joinus next September in Oakbrook at our first meetingfor the 2009-2010 season. Dr. Michael Morgan willbe speaking on Conservative Esthetic Solutions forthe Young Adult. Our meetings are a great way tomeet new people and network with old friends. It isalso a good time to learn more about the Academyand all that Chicago AGD, IL AGD and National AGDis doing for its members. For those of you who docome to our programs-Thank you very much for yoursupport and please ask a colleague who is notinvolved or who is not a member to come with youto our meetings next fall and spring!and agd.org to find out what local and national issuesare affecting general dentists. Members can alsoquickly and easily get involved in our advocacyefforts by using the online Capwiz tool.From continuing education, to advocacy tonetworking; AGD is the only organization thatexclusively represents the interests and needs ofthe general dentist. Advocacy is a very importantmember benefit and I had the opportunity this pastMarch to attend the third annual “A Great Dentistgoes to Washington.” During this year’s governmentrelations conference, nearly 60 attendees from acrossthe nation met with their legislators to discuss issuesimportant to general dentists. Two main issues werethis year’s focus for Hill visits: funding for Title VIIHealth Professions Programs and dentistry’s role inthe upcoming health care reform discussions.Additionally mentioned was the AGD’s support oftwo pieces of legislation introduced in the 111 thCongress, the Dental Emergency Responder Act andthe Meth Mouth Prevention and CommunityRecovery Act. He will be celebrating his 40th year inpractice in 2009 and currently maintains his office in Schaumburg, Illinois.Dr. Dan has been active in Alpha Omega since his freshman year indental school where he joined the student chapter. His father, also wasa dentist, member of Alpha Omega and one of the founders, with Dr.Ted Weclew, of The Academy of General Dentistry. Dr. Uditsky boaststhat his daughter, a practicing orthodontist, is the family’s thirdgeneration member of the Fraternity. Dr, Uditsky and his wife, Arlene,live in Mundelein, Illinois and enjoy their two children and eightgrandchildren.Page 7
