Advanced TechnologyAlong with the proven performance and reliability of our compressor established over the pastfew decades, various state-of-the-art technologies are further applied to achieve the highestperformance, quality and features possible in line with industry needs. Through these rigorouschallenges, Kawasaki can provide a more optimized compressor to enhance the total benefit forthe end user. This is our fundamental mission as one of the leading industrial centrifugalcompressor manufacturer.Efficiency EnhancementImpeller BrazingHigh Pressure TechnologyImpeller as well as the stationary aero passage designincluding the diffuser, return channel and return vanesection are optimized to ensure high efficiency andappropriate head characteristic from repeatedly performedgeometry design, CFD, FEM followed by in-house singlestage verification testing.Advanced technology such as 3D-impellers, modified vaneddiffusers, sealing component improvement, etc. are appliedto achieve the aforementioned purpose, followed bysatisfactory test results for deployment to our compressorswhich are to be installed and operated at the customer’ssite. For small diameter and narrow flow passage impellerswhere the conventional shroud-to-hub welding is notpractical, Kawasaki has developed manufacturing withvacuum brazing using Gold-Nickel filler metal. Brazingenables the impeller to be manufactured exactly per thegeometric design definition as less deformation is expectedin comparison with welding. This enables the impeller toyield sufficient performance characteristic even with a verysmall geometry design where precise manufacturing iscrucial.Development of high pressure / small flow compressors aretargeted especially for applications such as deep waterexploration including FPSOs, FLNGs and also EOR (EnhancedOil Recovery). These compressors are equipped with largebore ratio (impeller outer diameter/shaft diameter) rotors aswell as damper seals for the purpose of high rotor stabilityas a countermeasure to destabilizing aerodynamic forcesexpected under high pressure/high density gas. Suchcompressors are expected to have an average dischargepressure of 350 barG (5000 psig).Various testing are conducted to ensure proper operation atthe customer’s site with full satisfaction on both mechanicaland aerodynamic performance.Kawasaki Oil-FreeCompressor (MAG CompTM)With Kawasaki’s rich experience and advanced technology,an “oil-free” compressor unit can now be offered which isequipped with an active magnetic bearing. In this package, the compressor is directly coupled to a high speed motorwhich eliminates a speed increasing gearbox.Consequentially, lube oil can be completely eliminated fromthe entire package which can offer an Easy, Efficient andEco-friendly solution to the customer to optimize thelifetime operating cost (OPEX). Moreover, the packagefootprint itself is smaller than conventional packages whichis beneficial when minimal installation area is preferable.Large bore rotor3D Impeller3D Impeller MachiningStandard bore rotorImpeller brazed in vacuum furnaceHole Pattern SealSwirl braker at labyrinthCFD studyNarrow exit of brazed impellerActive Magnetic BearingPEEK labyrinth slant seal8Single Stage Test RigHigh Pressure / Small flow compressor Test Rig9
