Department chairs may authorize and sign first week semester course enrollments on behalf of their adjunctinstructors. During the second week of the semester, no registrations of in-session courses will be allowed, only course levelchanges (e.g. MTH 113 to MTH 102) and lateral course changes (e.g. ENG 111 to another section of ENG 111) will be allowedwith approval of the course instructor(s).REGISTRATION ELIGIBILITY – ACCUPLACER ASSESSMENT & ADVISINGRegistration is open to all admitted students who have completed registration requirements such as ACCUPLACER (previouslyCompass) testing and academic advising. Students who have not been actively enrolled for the past two years must complete anew admission application.Academic advising is required for all first-time students and is recommended for all students to ensure successfulcompletion of ACC requirements and transferability of courses. Advising for returning students will be required if prerequisitesare not completed. Meet with your academic advisor to arrange your schedule of classes. Obtain your advisor’s signature on thecompleted registration form. Students with a “financial obligation” will not be allowed to register until the obligation is cleared.REGISTRATION ELIGIBILITY - MID-POINT ACADEMIC ADVISINGMid-Point Academic Advising will be required for the first semester of a returning student’s second year of enrollment.FINANCIAL AIDSubmit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online as soon as possible. Apply online at www.fafsa.gov andauthorize electronic release of the results (called the Student Aid Report or SAR) to ACC by including our code number, 002237REGISTER FOR CLASSESAdvisor Web Registration: Your advisor may participate in Web registration and enroll you during your advising session.Go to Van Lare Hall for completion of your registration (course enrollment and/or tuition payment).Van Lare Hall Registration: If your advisor is not participating in Web registration, please bring your completed registrationform to Van Lare HallWeb Registration: Returning students actively using WebAdvisor may register through the web. These registrations must be completed by Advisor Web Registration or in the Registrar’s Office. Enrollmentsfor more than 19 credit hours cannot be completed through WebAdvisor. Approval for this load must be received from theVP of Instruction. Restricted programs (Registered and Practical Nursing, Utility Technician, Automotive, ConcreteTechnology) cannot be registered through WebAdvisor.PAYMENT AND REFUND INFOPayment is by check, money order, Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express or financial aid at the time of registration.Michigan Merit/Michigan Promise Award recipients must present at the time of registration a copy of their certification showingACC as the receiving institution.All charges are assessed and payable in United States currency at registration or as otherwise stated. Students are urged touse checks, credit cards, or money orders payable to Alpena Community College for the payment of charges. If checks andmoney orders are in excess of the required payments, the excess amount will be added to the student’s account and may beused at the Bookstore for purchases during the enrollment period. Refunds and amounts left on student accounts at that timewill be refunded to the student. Excess credit card amounts will be refunded to the credit card(s) used for 60 days from dateused. Online payments are now accepted through WebAdvisor. Cash is accepted at the Alpena Campus; however, no cashpayments are accepted at the Oscoda Campus. Your cooperation is appreciated.TUITION REFUND POLICYFull refund (100%) of all tuition paid for 15-week courses will be issued if a Drop/Add form is processed and given to theRegistrar’s Office (Van Lare Hall 117) in Alpena or the Oscoda Campus Office prior to 3:30 p.m. on the last day of enrollment forthe semester. Placement Testing ScheduleThe ACCUPLACER placement assessment is required for: All new Alpena Community College students who do not have A.C.T. Reading, English andMathematics subscores of 18 or higher and wish to register for more than one course** (Note:placement tests will only be given in the subject areas where subscore minimums were not met) or All new Alpena Community College students who do not have SAT Reading test scores of 25, Writingand Language test scores of 25 and Mathematics test score of 26.5 or higher and wish to registerfor more than one course* (Note: placement tests will only be given in the subject areas where subscore minimums were not met.) Have not earned a minimum of 12 college credits including at least one college level course in eitherEnglish or Mathematics and All students who enroll for the first time in an English or mathematics course.The ACCUPLACER Placement Test replaces the previously used Compass Test and is stronglyrecommended for all students, regardless of course load or field of study.New students must submit an Application for Admission to the Admissions Office before attendingassessment.
