CLICK ONA LINKBELOW TONAVIGATEFSA and Child Care Assistance ProgramFlexible Spending AccountsChild Care Assistance ProgramUMMS offers two Flexible Spending Accounts – a Health CareSpending Account (HCSA) and a Dependent Care AssistanceProgram (DCAP).The UMMS Child Care Assistance Program helps to make childcare for children in pre-kindergarten or younger affordable fornon-union UMMS employees. The Child Care Assistance Programpays a portion of child care expenses for licensed day care centersand in family child care homes. The amount of assistance thatthe program provides is determined by your adjusted grossfamily income.A Flexible Spending Account is a special account that allows youto set aside money to pay for certain out-of-pocket health carecosts. Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs) help you save money,too, by providing a way to pay for certain everyday health ordependent care expenses on a tax-free basis. Anyone who haspredictable out-of-pocket medical, dental, vision or dependentcare expenses should consider an FSA.The Health Care Spending Account (HCSA) lets you payfor eligible medical, dental and vision care expenses such asdeductibles, copays, coinsurance amounts, prescription drugsand other charges not covered or fully reimbursed under amedical, dental or vision plan. You may contribute between 250 and 2,750 to your HCSA each year.The Dependent Care Assistance Program (DCAP) allows youto pay for qualified expenses incurred for custodial dependents(children under age 13) or elder care expenses you incur whileyou and your spouse work or search for work. You may contributeany amount up to 5,000 per household to your DCAP each planyear ( 2,500 if married but filing separate tax returns). Short Term and Long Term Disability InsuranceShort Term Disability InsuranceEmployees may choose to participate in a Short Term Disabilityprogram offered by Guardian. The employee pays the entire costof the plan. Coverage is effective on the first of the month afterhire date.
