A patronis a person of any age who is permanently or temporarily unable to come to the library due to illness or disability is eligiblefor this program. They must reside within the County of Marin jurisdiction and be homebound. A patron has filed a PatronApplication containing contact information, specific needs information, and reading preferences and has had a phoneor personal interview with the LBW Coordinator and/or LBW branch representative. He/she has also signed a PatronRelease Form to ensure clarity on the parameters of the program. Note: The Volunteer/Liaison does not provide assistancewith activities of daily living, or give advice on financial or personal matters.LBW provides books, magazines, CDs, DVDs, etc. LBW also assist patrons in making use of our electronic resources,both for listening and reading. Patrons can also utilize the library online (http://www.marinlibrary.org/) to request items(place holds) or renew their checked-out items. Patrons receive deliveries at least once a month from trained volunteers.Materials are checked out to a patron, on his or her library card, for up to six weeks. A joint program of the Marin County Free Library and Marin County Civic Center VolunteersVolunteer Liaison Role DescriptionREQUIREMENTS1. Complete County of Marin CCV online application.2. Complete and submit LBW Liaison Application forms (pages 4, 5, 7 in this packet) on or before first day ofassignment.3. Pass interview with LBW Coordinator and Library branch representative.4. Undergo fingerprinting at the Marin County Sheriff’s Office and pass the background check.5. Submit copy of driver’s license and proof of vehicle insurance or means of delivery if not by vehicle.6. Undergo training and agree to one-year commitment to the program and consistent visits with assigned patrons.7. Review the LBW training materials, meet with the LBW Coordinator/LBW branch representative for programinstructions, and visit each new patron accompanied by LBW Coordinator for first visit.General RESPONSIBILITIESThe LBW Volunteer (or Liaison) provides branch-based home delivery of library materials to qualified homebound residentswithin the jurisdictions of the Marin County Free Library. The Volunteer/Liaison works with the LBW Coordinator and/or Librarystaff as needed to provide materials suited to patrons’ interests. The Volunteer/Liaison is responsible for delivery and returnof library materials to and from the patron’s home.Specific Responsibilities1. Take responsibility for each assigned patron, and visit each patron at least once a month.Time spent with patrons is just as valuable as the materials brought to them.2. Be receptive to patron requests for new items. Return borrowed items in a timely manner.3. Keep patron reading choices confidential, in accordance with Marin County Free Library policies.4.
