It will be a paneldiscussion with a representative from the manufacturing, engineering andcontracting professions. Come with your favorite questions and try tochallenge their opinions and walk away with a greater understanding of thematerials we make, specify and install on a daily basis. Our November meeting will be one week earlier to accommodate those whowish to partake in the Fall tradition of Hunting. Although I’m not a hunter, Icome from a family that was deep in this tradition and fondly remember theyear my father bagged a bear. We were so proud. Our November meeting willalso be at the Training Center in Troy on the 12th with a needed subject onLEED plumbing design. We have made arrangements with ASPE National to be a Webinar site forfuture events. We are currently reviewing the roster of subjects and will do aroll out soon. Keep an eye out for an e-mail questionnaire to garner what youwould like to experience as an informative Webinar. These are generally onehour long and most likely given at an early session just prior to our generalmembership meeting. The 2014 ASPE Expo-Convention is in Chicago and we are already lookinginto how to take our Chapter to the “Windy City”. I will keep you posted as tothe date for the EXPO in Mid-September as it nears. We are looking into thepossibility of chartering a bus to get us there. In any event we will be there!!This is your chapter! Past President ReportJohn Nussbaum, IPP, FASSE/ASPEBy now most of you have seen the newASPE logo adopted during the 2012convention by the convention delegatesand approved by the ASPE board ofdirectors. I immediately started to thinkabout our chapter’s publications and howwe could work the new ASPE Societylogo into them. After conversing withTheresa Green our esteemed News Letter Editor andPublisher, I contacted Ron George and asked him if he wouldsend me some of his BIM 3 dimensional designs to work intoour publications that would indicate that the eastern Michiganchapter of ASPE is a Plumbing Engineering Organization ofdesign professionals. Without any hesitation he agreed andWXUQHG PH RYHU WR SULO %DXVPDQ LQ KLV RI¿FH 6KH DVNHG PH for a description of what I was looking for. Within a few daysI and Theresa had a number of design pieces we could choosefrom. We are grateful to Ron and thank him for his permissionto use his designs as part of the News Letter mast head, aswell as our other publications. On Wednesday August 07, 2013, I accompanied ASPE EMCBoard Director, Barry Pines; ASPE EMC Board Director andLiaison, Dann Holmes (NSF) and Chris Salazar (NSF) tomeet with Joe Madziar (Chief of the Plumbing Division forthe State of Michigan) and Andy Neuman (Asst. Dann showedBill around visiting the various class rooms and trailershousing the latest in training technology as it pertains to theplumbing and mechanical industry. Afterward we discussedthe need for the plumbing design professionals to beexposed to this annually. Dann Holmes mentioned thatASPE might be interested in the ASPE semiannualSymposium becoming a part of UA Week and that he willpursue the idea with all the necessary parties, ASPE, UA,WCC, Local 190 in Ann Arbor and NSF. He is doing thiswith the Eastern Michigan Chapter’s Board of Director’sblessings.
