Colonel Robert DarlingIn October 2007, Lieutenant Colonel Darling retired fromthe United States Marine Corps with just over twentyyears of active duty service. He flew attack helicopters inDesert Shield and Desert Storm during the first Gulf Warand in Somalia, Africa, in support of Operation RestoreHope. In June 1998, he was selected to fly as a presidential pilot with Marine Helicopter Squadron One and inOctober 2000, he was handpicked to work for the WhiteHouse Military Office, Airlift Operations Department. Itwas in that capacity that Lt. Col. Darling supported thePresident, Vice President and National Security Advisor inthe President's Emergency Operations Center (PEOC) onSeptember 11, 2001. In May 2002, he attended the NavalPostgraduate School where he earned his MBA in Financial Management and subsequently served as a Program Manager for the Chief of Naval Operations supporting the Department of the Navy Flying Hour Program.Bob is the author of ―24 Hours Inside the President’s Bunker, 9/11/01: The White House, and the President ofQuantitative Analytics, LLC, an aviation operations andlogistics company located in Stafford, Virginia. He is a graduate of Liberty University andDallas Theological Seminary. Ted and his wife, Amy,have been married for 15 years and live in Branson, MOwith their two children, Corynn and Carson.Dr. J.P. Moreland is the Distinguished Professor of Philosophy at Talbot School of Theology, Biola University in LaMirada, California. Moreland has four degrees, coplanted three churches, spoken and debated on over175 college campuses around the country, and servedwith Campus Crusade for Christ and served as a bioethicist for Personal care Nursing Homes.

He completed hisM.S. Ed. in Physical Education at MSU and iscurrently working on hisPh.D. in Administration.Sharp has served as Intramural Director andStrength and Conditioning Coach at College ofthe Ozarks and taughtfor several years as anadjunct professor in thePhysical Education Department. He and hiswife, Lee, live on campusand have three children.Stacy Edwards is in hersecond year as the Assistant Volleyball coach. In2009, she helped theLady Cats make an appearance in the NAIANational tournament.After graduating fromRepublic in 2005, Edwards attended Northeastern Oklahoma fortwo years, playing volleyball and basketball.Transferring to College ofthe Ozarks in 2007, Edwards earned MCACFirst Team AllConference and Newcomer of the Year honors. In 2008, she was FirstTeam All-Conferenceand was an NAIA AllAmerican.Stacy lives in Bransonand coaches Club Volleyball. She is currentlyworking on her MastersDegree at WilliamWoods University.

August—September 2012Page 5Our MissionOur mission is to encourage students to think, to develop their own ideas, to improve their basic writing skills, and to learnfrom the entire process with the help of fellow students. A Reader Response is a twenty-to-thirty-minute one-on-one sessionwith a writing assistant that gives the student a chance to discuss his or her writing and receive feedback and suggestions.“Book It” to the Library!Students using the library this fall willnotice a new 6-unit, ―computer -island’on the main floor. Like all the others,the computers are loaded with Microsoft Office allowing students to create usingWord, PowerPoint, and Excel. Closer proximity allows librarians quicker access tostudents. 12 computers are now available in reference and 3 in the Media Centerin addition to 26 in the lab making a total of 41 computers available for student usein the library. Optimistically, students will no longer need to wait for an availablecomputer when the lab is unavailable. For students using their laptops in the library, new lamps with twoelectrical outlets on each adorn many of our study tables. For comfort and relaxation, there are now large beanbags in thebasement lounge, and some comfortable furniture now invitescurling up with a favorite book.Lyons Memorial Library has a list of objectives maintained to support our philosophyand purpose, one of which is: "to provide physical facilities and equipment that willmake possible the most effective use of the library ‖ We are working on it, andinvite your suggestions!!
