Nourished and fed by the Body and Blood ofChrist, women and men longed to remain in the presence ofGod. Through quiet prayer before the reserved Sacrament –whether it was in the tabernacle or exposed in a monstrance –they contemplated the gift of Christ and found the source oftheir own lives.“We have seen a renewal of the practice of sitting before thesacramental presence of Christ in recent years. Inspired bythe Second Vatican Council’s exaltation of the Eucharist asthe ‘source and summit of the Christian life,’ Catholics rootedtheir faith life in the Eucharist.”--From the “Introduction,” Prayers and Devotions for Eucharistic AdorationThe Our Lady Queen of the Angels Perpetual AdorationChapel provides the ideal opportunity for this special timewith the Eucharistic Presence of Our Lord.Available 24/7/365 with a secure key card, the chapel offersa place of respite and peace. Pax Dear Parishioners and Friends of Holy Angels,While about three more weeks of actual summerremain until the autumnal equinox, with the passingof Labor Day weekend most persons start hoping fora colorful and temperate fall. One of the ways wehope to brighten up autumn at Holy Angels is ourfirst-ever “A Taste of Holy Angels” in our parish hallSaturday, October 12, and Sunday, October 13, aftereach Mass. This endeavor of “A Taste of Holy Angels”that will coincide with our annual Volunteer Fair isone in which our parishioners are invited to makeone of their signature recipes in large numbers. Eachcook will portion it out in miniature, white, papercups for others to sample — like at a grocery-store,sample stand — while having on hand copies of theirrecipe to share for those who would like to make itfor their family and friends in the holiday seasons. To enter there will be a “Sign-Up Genius” for onlineregistration so that avid cooks may share with othersa taste of their treasured recipes. Of course, if interest is great, there will be a cutoff number of registrants. A free-will offering for tasting will go to theLittle Sisters of the Poor who care for elderly andpoor regardless of anyone’s background. For more information about entering the ATOHAin less than six weeks time, please contact one of twopastoral council members who are looking forward toputting this new initiative together — Holly Gripka:hlgripka@hotmail.com and Minnette Chmielarski:minnettec@basehormax.comMay the remaining summer days be spectacular, golden September days and your autumn be blessedwith bright, beautiful, and great weather, but most ofall with a greater realization of God’s loving plan foryou no matter what has occurred in your life and ofhis manifold blessings for all!In the Holiest Hearts of Jesus and Mary,S"2'"34") C ,"0/ )3 - Food Kitchen4 - Knights of Columbus meeting 7 pm, hall5 - Adult Choir practice begins 6:30 pm, church5 - “Fulfilled” study 6:30 pm, l. c. basement6 - “Fulfilled” study 9:00 am, l. c. basement8 - Religious Education classes begin 9:15 am10 - Little Flowers of Our Lady Club 6:30 pm, modular10 - RCIA classes begin 7 pm, l. c. basement10 - CWO meeting 7 pm, hall11 - 4th Deg. Butthese are matters of custom, not Tradition.“Tradition – with a capital T – isn’t something that you do. It’s something that you know.Tradition is the body of unwritten knowledge givenby Christ to the Apostles and handed down by themto their successors, the Church’s bishops, whoteach it to everybody else. It’s the first thing youhave to know about the Church, because that’s howit all started. After all, Christ never wrote a word ofhis teachings, and during the first couple of generations after him the Apostles converted thousands byword of mouth – by Tradition – long before the Biblewas assembled.”(Excerpted from the book, Why Do Catholics Do That? ByKevin Orlin Johnson, Ph.D.; See Gal. 3:2, 1 Peter 1:24-25;Compendium of the Catholic Church questions 12-17;Catechism of the Catholic Church articles 74-90).
