WoodPerformance Information Added to Quick QuotePerformance information has certainly become more important in today’s market, and being able to quickly and easily provide it can makeor break a job. To help you better access this important information we have developed new functionality in Quick Quote. The steps belowoutline how you can both access performance information in real time as you configure a product in Quick Quote and how you print thisinformation on your finished quote. WoodPanel Option Enhancedfor Custom Patio DoorsWith the July Quick Quote release we are excited to offer many new options in our Custom PatioDoor line.Extruded Cladding We have added the option of extruded clad aluminum to our current patio door offering. InQuick Quote you will be given the choice of cladding option, this extruded offering matchesthe current patio door offering in colors and sizes and is an additional choice to offer yourcustomer. If your customer prefers an extruded clad product, we now have an option to meettheir needs.2-1/4" Panel A 2-1/4" extruded clad panel is now an option in the Custom Patio Door offering. This allowsyou to quote jobs with more commercial applications expanding the Custom product intomore of today’s marketplaces. This option is only offered in extruded clad as an outswingproduct. This product comes with a handicap sill.Swing Screen Our Custom Patio doors now come with a swing screen option, a new feature that is beinglaunched with this Quick Quote release. The dark patina grilles are sealed in between the glass and give the rustic feel popular inmany of today’s upscale homes. Thisoption will prove aesthetically pleasing for many of ourclad and SDL color options and interior finishes. Forinstance, if a customer chooses a dark cladding and sashcolor there will not be such a contrast of the spacer barand the color theme of the window. The black spaceroption has the same performance values as our currentspacer options and will be part of the glass option picksin Quick Quote.Phantom Screen Enhancements As you are aware, Phantom Screens have been a popular option for ourwood windows for a number of years. We’re pleased to announce a numberof product and program enhancements that will make this feature evenmore attractive. 15% Off Promotional Pricing – Starting in August and running throughthe end of October, we will reduce the price of Phantom Screens by 15%on all wood window orders. This pricing will not be programmed intoQuick Quote but we will process all quotes to ensure that this reductionmakes it through to builders and home owners. New Anti-Slam Feature – Effective immediately, all Phantom Screens onJELD-WEN wood windows will include an anti-slam device that effectivelycontrols the retraction of the screen. This feature is a welcome upgrade andcomes at no additional charge. Your JELD-WEN Sales Manager can access asmall sample which features this anti-slam device for you to see first hand. Showroom Display Promotion – With the new anti-slam featurewe suspect many of you will want to change out the product in yourshowroom to display the most current model. The blinds between the glass provide a comfortable,convenient way to block unwanted sunlight from the home withoutadding expensive blinds or obstructing the view.Block / Pocket Window DefinitionWhat is a “pocket” window and how does that differ from a “block” window? We hear thisquestion frequently. While the terms have sometimes been used interchangeably in literature,there are distinct differences:Pocket Window A pocket window is a window that is designed to fit into the jamb pocket of an old woodwindow after the sash has been removed. A pocket window will always be shipped with a sloped sill adapter, designed to fill the gapbetween the vinyl replacement window and the exterior slope of the sill on the woodwindow frame. Pocket windows can be ordered with optional head expanders. Ipex double-hung pocket windows can also be ordered with jamb jacks. In Eastern United States, pocket windows will have installation holes in the jambs at the topand bottom to provide an easy access for installation screws when setting the window.Pocket WindowBlock Window A block frame window may be used to install in concrete or masonry construction, or into awood buck. A block frame window will not be shipped with a sloped sill adapter. A block frame window is a window without a nailing fin. On some models the nailing fin is removed; others are designed with no nailing fin.
