A group of visionary Christian parents sitting together dreaming of what kind ofeducation they want for their children. Christ centred , biblically based , building a strong foundation inthe lives of their children , learning for serving. Sound familiar? Huron Christian School as we know ittoday is the direct result of their dreams becoming action.Fast forward to 2016. Almost 60 years later we are the ones faced with a decision. What do we do today forwhich future generations can look back and be thankful? This Same Foundation Next Generation CapitalCampaign answers that question. We want to add on to and upgrade this solid structure so that ourchildren today, and many generations to follow can still be educated from that Christ centred, biblically based perspective. And, we would venture to say that is even more necessary today than it was 60 yearsago. Our children need to continue learning about all the parts of this amazing, "In the beginning Godcreated" creation, and that "in the image of God He created them." They need to continue to hear that“in Him all things hold together”. And yes, learning is still all about serving, both today and in the future. Those are the characteristics that set this school apart. We invite you to join us as, by the grace of God, we take up this opportunity to build something worthwhilethat reflects the changing ways of how education is delivered today. It will be lasting and God honouringfor today’s, and future generations.Nick GeleynsePrincipal&Paul VandendoolBoard ChairSA ME FO U NDAT ION NEX T GE NE R ATI ON C A P I TA L C A MPA I GN

MESSAGE FROMCAMPAIGN CHAIRAGNES WAANDERS“God is magnificent; He can never be praised enough. There are no boundaries to His greatness. Generationafter generation stands in awe of Your work; each one tells stories of Your mighty acts.” (Psalm 145: 3 & 4)We, as a school community, can do this renovation and campaign because we have been given a vision;God’s plan, building with passion, a foundation of Christian education.God lit a passion for Christian education in our founding families. He lit this torch in their hearts andour school was established. He has been faithful year after year; generation after generation, walking with us on the journey of Huron Christian School. God continues to keep the flame going. Our community has been benefiting from Christian education for four generations! It is with thisstrong foundation, and only by God’s grace that we can move forward to grow with the school by investing in the building, the place where students learn and hear the stories that will alsoignite this fire in them for generations to come.We are the next generation to go forward with the torch that God will continue to keep lit.In support of our building project and Gift of Education Fund, we are launching a 3Mcapital campaign. As the Campaign Cabinet, we invite you to reflect with us on God’sfaithfulness, to commend to each other the foundation work that has been done atHuron Christian School before us, and to prayerfully consider how you will join us andinvest in the future of Christian education through the campaign: building on theSame Foundation, for the Next Generation.May God bless us as we move forward in the light of His Grace,Agnes WaandersCampaign Chair

BUILDING ON THE SAME FOUNDATIONHuron Christian School has an amazing story of legacy and blessing that spans many years. Since 1962,our school has been a community drawn together by a mutual desire to have Christ centred education inthe Huron County area. From the first informal meeting after church on July 19,1953, to the opening of the two classroom schoolnine years later with 54 students, followed by numerous additions, extensive classroom upgrades, newprograms and technological advancements over the years, the school has been a thriving beacon for thecommunities that we serve. Our school continues to grow steadily, therefore, we need to ensure our facilitiesare inviting and up to date.“The ultimate goal for us is to have our boysknow and trust God so they can have an eternalrelationship with Jesus Christ. The last 11 yearsat HCS were an investment in eternity for ourfamily."Dave & Elly BoonstoppelPast ParentsToday, we set out as those who did before us, to meet the challenge of positioning the school for thefuture to continue to fuel momentum and sustain growth. The Same Foundation Next Generation CapitalCampaign will allow us to raise the necessary funds to address these priority needs that are outlined onthe following pages.“When we sent our children to the Christian schoolwe gave from what we didn’t have and Godprovided. In the early years, parents of the schoolwould raise a calf to sell and donate the money tothe school. We are blessed to be able to help thenext generation. There is nothing better thanseeing your children follow the Lord. An attractive main entrance and bright foyerFOR OUR SMALLEST LEARNERSRenovations for our kindergarten and primary students include:The lobby area is where the vibrant character of our school is communicated, where visitors are greeted and first impressions are made. However, the currentspace is too small and doesn’t function well. GIFT OF EDUCATIONKIDS HELPING KIDSSCHOOLS HELPING SCHOOLSAs a school community, we are extremely blessed with both the financial means andopportunity to provide a Christian education for our children. We want to use our schoolimprovement project as an opportunity to teach and demonstrate to our children how wetoo can and are called to be a blessing to others. As a result, it is our intention to gift tenpercent of the funds received through the campaign to EduDeo Ministries, a like mindedorganization that advances Christian education globally. Through this gift we will expandthe impact and blessings of Christian education beyond the Huron community –supporting others in their desire to see their children grow and serve in the kingdom ofChrist.BUILDING A STRONG PARTNERSHIPWhen groups of people work together, their impact is magnified. EduDeo Ministries andHuron Christian School have a unique opportunity to work together to bless the globalkingdom of Christ and advance our calling within this kingdom. Ten percent of each gift(optional) through the Same Foundation Next Generation Capital Campaign will bedirected to COCREF (Colegios Cristianos Reformados) in the Dominican Republic.COCREF is a nationally run community of 15 Christian schools with an enrollment ofapproximately 4,000 students. Your Gift of Education will support a partnership that will:Bless schools in the Dominican in the following ways: Teacher training and leadership development Infrastructure improvement Financial assistance for vulnerable childrenBless HCS in the following ways: Open up the world through cultural awareness Build a relationship with a “sister” Dominican school Provide partner visits between Dominican and HCS staff

BUILDING FOR THENEXT GENERATIONThe Same Foundation Next Generation Capital Campaign is the next step in making our facilityready for the future. In the Spring of 2016, the Board invited The Dennis Group Inc., a faith based fundraising firm, toconduct a Community Assessment and Planning Study in our supporting community to determineits readiness for a capital campaign. We were deeply encouraged by the overwhelming supportand understanding of the need for renovations at Huron Christian School. There was a genuinedesire to invest directly in the lives of students and make their learning more effective. There wasalso a desire to help invest in enriching the education of students in a developing country throughthe Gift of Education Fund. The report also indicated that the 3M campaign goal is very much within reach. Over the 2016summer months, the Campaign Cabinet was recruited in preparation for the official campaign launchin September. The theme of the campaign, Same Foundation Next Generation expresses our school’s thankfulnessto God for His blessings on our community for four generations of Christian education, and for thevision of our founding families. And, it expresses our desire to carry the passion of this vision forwardand build on it, making it possible for future generations to look back and reflect on an even longerlegacy.“The premise was that the school was an extension ofthe home. Then and today, different denominationsare important. The commitment for Christianeducation is as strong today if not stronger than itwas then. Especially in the younger families.”Peter DamsmaMember of the inaugural BoardPAGE 10SA ME FO U NDAT ION NEX T GE NE R ATI ON C A P I TA L C A MPA I GN
