STUDENT PROFILEJoe & Tenton“After five years in the military, my wife and Idecided it was time to pursue our education.Relocating back to Oregon was difficult, especially with no home and no financialsecurity. Despite those obstacles along theroad, we continued to look forward and makethe best of our situation. We found a home, found jobs, enrolled in school, and welcomedour firstborn son into this world last summer.I chose Chemeketa becauseof its outstanding electronicsprogram and limitless resources.Being awarded this scholarshipwas an incredible feelingknowing there was help for uswhen we needed it the most.I cannot thank you enough for mychildcare scholarship and the supportyou have offered my family.”CHILD CARE SCHOLARSHIPThe Chemeketa Foundation was founded in 1973 by a small groupof community members offering small loans to help student-parentsin need attend Chemeketa Community College. With rising costsof childcare and the need for reliable daycare services for ourstudents, this scholarship remains an area of greatest need for theChemeketa Foundation.

STUDENT PROFILEMercedes“I turned to nursing as a career choice aftercaring for a family member in hospice. Thearea was so far out of town that help wouldonly come twice a week for just a shortvisit. The nurse was so warm and helpfuldespite being stretched so thin. I knew Iwanted to pursue nursing because I wouldn’tfeel that way about any other vocation. The time I spent caring for myloved one was precious andgave me a sense of purpose.I truly hope to make the mostof this scholarship and goon to help others in need.I hope that your investment in myfuture will make an even greaterimpact in the lives of others.”CHEMEKETA FOUNDATION NURSING SCHOLARSHIPDuring a period of increased demand and shortage of nurses,Chemeketa established this scholarship to assist students in theNursing Program. It remains one of the most expensive programsChemeketa offers. Students pursuing a nursing degree are oftenunable to accommodate even a part-time job due to the rigorousprogram schedule.
