Step Upto the PlateMy first formal association withthe Genesee Community CollegeFoundation was in early 2004, whenJohn Dwyer and Rick Ensman stoppedin my office to talk with me.I had known John and Rick formany years, and I have admired andsupported Genesee Community Collegefor decades. John and Rick startedtalking about the Foundation’s annualfund raising campaign. I thought theywere going to ask me for a financialcontribution, but it turned out theyhad something else in mind. Theyasked me to step up to the plate andlead the following year’s campaign asGeneral Campaign Chair. My 2004-2005 campaign turnedinto a two-year commitment. That,in turn, led me to join the GeneseeCommunity College Foundation Boardof Directors. Over the last five yearsI have served on four differentFoundation committees, participatedin dozens of major Foundation eventsand, now, I find myself serving inthe role of President of the GeneseeCommunity College Foundation.I can tell you firsthand that theGenesee Community College Foundationis a strong and vibrant partner toour College. We provide financial, volunteer, and entrepreneurial supportthat the College cannot obtain inany other way. Through the effortsof our Foundation Board, our 150 Foundation volunteers, and our 800 supporters, we help bring excellence toour College’s classrooms, educationalaccess to our region’s students, andeconomic vitality to our entire region.I am proud to present the 20092010 annual report of the GeneseeCommunity College Foundation to you.It is an account of the great work wehave collectively accomplished overthe last year.I am honored and privileged to serveas President of the Genesee CommunityCollege Foundation.
