We believe youwill love their classes! Please join us in welcoming these fine professionals.Lisa Bohn arrived here over 40 years ago to attend New College and never left. She has enjoyedworking with children of all ages as an environmental educator, ukulele teacher, preschoolteacher, and swimming instructor. Her love of the performing arts has taken her onstage as adancer, actor, and musician. She is looking forward to playing along with ACE students in her fallUkulele classes.Janet Combs is an independent photographer and visual storyteller who shot her first weddingat the age of 16 and now covers news and events for the Sarasota Herald Tribune. A self-described“people collector,” Janet’s first love is portrait photography. She'll be teaching several collaborativephotography courses such as Abstract, Architectural, Street, Flower Photography and more.Billy Elkins is a professional photographer, graphic designer, and instructor. He's an Adobe CertifiedProfessional and also serves as an Adobe Customer Advisor. We are excited for him to share hisexpertise in popular ACE photography courses: Digital Photography, Photoshop, and Lightroom.Beverly Gordon has taught textile and fashion history, object analysis, global perspectives ondesign and culture, and design thinking. She is a prolific artist and writer, and she has beenfacilitating creative writing workshops since 2014. ACE is looking forward to her courses in artappreciation, writing, and art history this fall, including Collecting and Souvenirs, Fashion as aSocial Mirror, and an online course: Writing From the Inside.Greg Ryan loves to dance! That sums up his life and career, from studying under Frankie Manning,an original member of Whitey’s Lindy Hoppers to taking part in the National Revival of Swing,including teaching at the Arthur Murray Dance Studio in Sarasota. Greg will be leading ourpopular Line Dancing classes this fall.With a Masters in Art Education from USF and over 30 years of experience teaching art inthe Florida school system, Alma Vega has a solid grounding in her field. In 2002-2003 shereceived the “Spirit of America” award for the Artwork of America project from the PALS andPartners in Education organizations. Come join Alma in her Calligraphy for Beginners: TheItalic Experience and Calligraphy: Pen Brush Lettering classes.Lizbeth Viera is a Spanish teacher of Puerto Rican descent. She is a seasoned educator withmore than 10 years of experience in the classroom. She is a graduate of the University of SouthFlorida, where she majored in Spanish education. Lizbeth will be teaching ACE’s BeginningSpanish I and II this fall.In 20 years with the New Jersey school system, Kelly Villa honed her skills as a technologyand media expert and became a top-notch educator. Her experience includes curriculumdevelopment, technology integration, and teaching professional development courses. She’llbe offering the essential courses you need for your home or business, such as MicrosoftWord, Excel, PowerPoint, Computers Level 1 and Level 2.Eleanor Wachs holds a doctorate in Folklore and American Studies from Indiana University.She has conducted fieldwork in many ethnic communities in New England and Florida andis past president of the Florida Folklore Society. This term, she will be teaching The GreatAmerican Read (based on the PBS series) and Folklore: The Traditions of Everyday Life.In his 20 years of teaching, Charles Wise has focused on Chinese/East Asian Studies, U.S.Foreign Policy in the Indo-Pacific Region, and AP U.S. History. Charles has lived and worked inChina and travels there frequently. He believes that it is imperative for Americans to try tounderstand Asia better.
