With the support of the Board of Managers, the RiskManagement department has broad parameters and deals actively with patient perceptions, credentialing, behavior of bothproviders and staff, regulatory issues, claims management, and questions about patient management.

Prior to joining the Risk Management field in 1989, she served asPsychopharmacology Clinic and Research Coordinator with University Associates in Psychiatry at the University ofVermont.Dr. Amori received a Ph.D. in Counselor Education from the University of Florida and an MS in Counseling and HumanSystems from Florida State University. She is an active member of the American Society for Healthcare Risk Management(ASHRM) and is a past president of the society. Salsman - “Peer Review Is it Protected?” This presentation will focus on three suits brought by a single physician against a hospital, and tracethe efforts used to reach a successful outcome.C. David CreechDavid continually represents hospitals, physicians, and other health care providers in actions alleging medical malpractice,as well as a variety of other tort and contract suits, throughout eastern North Carolina. Has successfully represented a largenumber of defendants, both in State Superior Court and Federal Court, throughout eastern North Carolina, litigating cases innearly every county in the eastern part of the State. Acted as primary counsel for numerous appeals before the UnitedStates Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, the North Carolina Supreme Court, and the North Carolina Court of Appeals.Also represented clients, including insurance companies, on first party actions, including bad faith and unfair and deceptivetrade practice claims, and represented insured’s and insurance companies in actions alleging negligence, personal injury,fraud and arson claims, as well as a variety of other miscellaneous tort actions. He holds a bachelor's degree from Randolph MaconCollege and a Master of Divinity degree from Drew Theological School. His nine-year clinical background and ministry at St.Elizabeths Hospital in Washington, D.C. gave him a particular sensitivity and love for working with the mentally ill.David came to Charlotte after founding the Department of Pastoral Care at Cabell Huntington Hospital, Huntington, W.Va.,where he served as Director for six years. Those two experiences helped to shape his creativity, appreciation for spiritualcare and education, and his administrative abilities. He is an ordained Elder in the United Methodist Church and has aparticularly strong belief that all faiths deserve respect. He is a CPE Supervisor, certified by the Association for ClinicalPastoral Education, and is also a Board Certified Chaplain with the Association of Professional Chaplains. David is knownnationally as a speaker and leader in faith and health.In 1998 David received the prestigious Anton T. Boisen Award from the Association of Mental Health Clergy for his devotedministry and creative leadership in the field of religion and mental health. He currently serves on the Institutional ReviewBoard, the Hospital Ethics Committee, and the CHS Diversity and Inclusion Council.
