1. Set a goal and create your vision. Why are doing this? Decide what your goal is,write it down, and read it first thing in the morning and last thing at night for EACH OFTHE 21 DAYS. This will be the key to your success.2. Plan an un-food related reward. Something you really want or want to do. Willpoweralone will not get you to your goal. Pick the right questions. This will get your mind asking questions that will keep youfocused. Again, write them down and read them morning and night. Nothing is betterthan starting and ending your day on the right foot. BE UNSTOPPABLE!4. Be open-minded. Planning for your 21-Day Meal Plan1. Fix Your Kitchen - Get rid of ALL products with the following:hydrogenated or partially hydrogenated oils, high fructose corn syrup (HFCS). BHA ,Parabens , Sodium Nitrite , Caramel Coloring , Castoreum , Food Dyes, HydrolyzedVegetable Protein, Soy protein isolate, Soy protein concentrate, Soy bean oil, Soy,Texturized vegetable protein (usually found in energy bars, crackers, veggie burgers,and Vegetarian look-a-like products) , saccharine, sucralose and any other artificialsweetener.Why? Aside from being linked to a myriad of diseases and health issues, your livercannot burn fat as effectively if it is busy trying to detox your body from all of thesechemicals.****If you have children who require snacks which might tempt you, put them in aseparate cabinet that you have no reason to go in and forget about them for the next 21days.2. Time to Go ShoppingTIPS:1. Do not go to the grocery store when you are hungry or without a list2. Stay away from ANY food that says “diet” or “reduced calorie” these foods aregenerally chemical cocktails containing many of the ingredients we want to avoid.(ex: skip the margarine and opt for whole butter or, better yet, olive oil.) It’s allabout the portions.3. Stick to the outside aisles. This is where you will find the wholesome, unprocessedfoods.4. Avoid store bought salad dressings (they generally contain salt, sugar, and morethan a few ingredients on the “avoid” list. Opt for balsamic vinegar (no addedsugar) and olive oil your favorite spices on salads and vegetables. If you must,avoid “reduced” calorie and make sure your dressing does not contain any of theabove.5. Nut butters are great to spread on apples and vegetables. Make sure the onlyingredients are the actual nut and salt – no roasted nuts. Almond butter andcashew butter are great choices.Peanuts are actually considered a legume, and not a nut, so try to avoid this wheneverpossible. If you can’t change to the other butters, buy a natural peanut butter (not yournormal commercial brand)!Hint: If there’s no liquid is sitting on the top of the jar, it’s probably not a healthy one.www.mypersonalfitnesscoach.com

3. General Tips and Tricks To Maximize Your Success1. Dairy is limited because it is what I consider a “processed food”. Greek Yogurt isan exception because it is generally lower in sugar than milk or regular yogurt anddoesn’t have the sodium and saturated fat of cheese. You can find it with 3ingredients and zero preservatives.2. Breads/Grains – White and even “whole wheat” or “whole grain” bread can stopyou from reaching your goals because of the wheat itself. If you MUST have bread,choose sprouted whole grain or 100% whole grain products. Some whole wheatbreads can turn to sugar just like the white flour so I recommend, you findoatmeal, spelt and non wheat based bread. Note: I am not encouraging you tospend 6. on “Paleo” bread, there are plenty of other reasonable options. (andthey taste just fine) Personally, I skip the bread entirely (unless it’s an “off” day)and use corn tortillas.3. No Artificial Sweeteners: Stevia or raw honey is best.4. Spicy foods - Studies show that spicy foods may have a small effect on weightloss, but that effect is less significant if you are not eating these foods regularly.While spicy food might not be a miracle weight loss cure, adding a little spice willimprove the flavor and cause you to eat less during your meal. Try adding hotsauce or hot peppers whenever possible.5. Cinnamon - has been shown to have great effects on blood sugar, help withlowering cholesterol and a host of other benefits which is why it is included in yourgrocery list and sprinkled throughout some of your recipes! (small pun intended)6. Sleep for fat loss? Yep. There are many, many studies to back this up. Get atleast 7-hours of sleep per night.7. Hydrate! NASM recommends 64 oz PLUS an ounce of fat you want to lose eachday. If you workout on any given day, add an additional 8oz or don’t count thatwater consume during the workout toward your required amount for that day.Not only does dehydration mask itself as hunger but keeping well hydrated helpsrid the body of toxins and fat by products as you burn fat.****If you drink caffeine, such as an 8oz. cup of coffee, you must add an additional 8oz. of waterfor EVERY cup.8. Carbohydrates are energy - The best time to eat them is when you needenergy: a small dose with your protein when you wake up, before an intenseworkout, and directly after a workout.9. Your food plans are balanced so that you shouldn’t get many cravings after thefirst few days. If you do, drink a glass of water. As I mentioned, dehydration oftenmasks itself as hunger. Wait 15 minutes and see if you are still hungry or cravingfood. If you are still hungry or having cravings, have a few ounces of chicken orGreek yogurt or 8 (or so) almonds.www.mypersonalfitnesscoach.com

10. After the first 3 days, you want to eat protein at every meal and snack while onthis program (just as you would normally want to do) and you will want tocontinue this after the program ends.11. No alcohol if you can. If you must drink alcohol, save it for an unstructuredfood day.12. Unstructured Food Days - I don’t like the term “cheat” or “Free” days. CustomBodies uses the term, “unstructured” food days. These are designed to help youcontinue to continue on your food plan, increase your leptin levels and stoke yourmetabolism with an influx of calories. (Think about what a dwindling fire doeswhen you throw a big log on it. DO NOT SKIP your “unstructured food” days. Ipromise you, you cannot undo the results from following your plan the other dayswith one “off” day. You can however, completely derail your results with the “thislittle bit won’t hurt” mentality during your “on” days13. Plan and prepare your meals ahead of time. You know exactly what you haveto eat with this plan, so plan ahead.14. Weigh and Measure whenever possible - I always say Americans are fatbecause of “Portion distortion”. Use a scale and measuring cups for portion controlwhenever possible during this 3 week challenge. This will set you up to be able toeyeball fairly well when all is said and done.15. If you get hungry during the program, increase the protein or vegetable by 1serving. Men may need bigger serving sizes, so listen to your body.
