COLLEGE MISSION AND SERVICE AREA OCtech’s Mission: to provide relevant training and education in aflexible environment that promotes success and self-reliance forstudents, and fosters economic development for the region. Founded in 1968, OCtech is a two-year public institution servingapproximately 3,000 credit students and 1,100 continuingeducation students annually. The College is located in the Lower Savannah region of SouthCarolina, an area which is 72% rural and 62% African-American.We serve ten area high schools and 90% of their students receivefree or reduced price lunch. Our area is a medically underserved area, so there is already ahigh demand for nurses and health science technicians.

OCTECH’S NURSING PROGRAMS The PN program was established in 1975 and was the first nursingcurriculum offered on campus. The ADN program was established in 1982 with the assistance ofa Title III Grant and College and community commitment Both programs are ACEN AccreditedADN Licensure Pass Rate (2017):95% (Traditional)100% (ADN FLEX)PN Licensure Pass Rate (2017):100% (Traditional)100% (PN FLEX)

OCTECH’S EARLY COLLEGE PROGRAM Middle College established in 2008; expanded toEarly College in Fall 2017 Includes 10 area high schools, 3 private schools, and 3 career centers Students are able to take courses on campus, atoff-campus sites, as well as online (with approval), and can earn up to 24credit hours while in high school Eighteen career cluster pathways that feed into OCtech degree, diploma,and certificate programs or can transfer to a 4-year institution Early College enrollment makes up 19% of the College’s overallenrollment Has created a pipeline to meet the needs of local business and industry More information available at:http://www.octech.edu/admissions/early-college

ADN FLEX PROGRAM* Program began Spring 2015 with Pilot of 5 students (4 were successful),Most recent has 9 students Retention Rate for the first class - 80% Retention Rate for the second class - 89% NCLEX Pass Rate -100% Job Placement Rate -100% Requires applicants to be Practical Nurses Methods of Delivery: face-to-face & hybrid Currently have permission from ACEN to increase enrollment by 25%annually, as needed.*This program allows students to finish in 3 semesters.We also have a transitional program.

PN FLEX PROGRAM Program began 2012 - 4 classes completed, currently 17 in newclass for Fall 2017 NCLEX Pass Rates for 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, & 2017 were 100% Job Placement Rate - 100% Requires applicants to have a background in Health Care Methods of Delivery: face-to-face and online Currently have permission from ACEN to increase enrollment by 25%annually, as needed.

CLUSTERING AND CONDENSING CLASS ANDCLINICAL TIMES, EXPANDING ONLINE OFFERINGS PN Flex Faculty teach in PN and ADN Flex Programs PN/RN Coordinator manages all Flexible Options for ADN & PN General Education Classes required to be completed prior to acceptance Program design allows for “folding in” an unsuccessful student from theFlex into the Traditional Program to continue working towards the degree Flexible Class, Clinical days & times (1 day class, 1 day clinical)

NEW INTAKE SCHEDULE FOR TRADITIONAL ADN The Flex Programs have helped to drive innovation in the Traditional ANDofferings. Beginning Fall 2018, students will be accepted twice each year (Fall andSpring semesters) All courses will provide lecture capture offerings and other supportivestructures to enhance retention

WRAP-AROUND SERVICES AND RETENTION Pathway-specific Recruitment and Retention Specialists for AdvancedManufacturing and Nursing/Health Sciences Early College Counselor All students provided with E-Advising Plan Retention Alert System (S3) Centralization of all tutoring, and academic support services inthe College’s Student Success Center, now located inside theOCtech Library Provision of PBI Emergency Stipends for “when life gets in the way”,now sustained through the OCtech Foundation

OCTECH’S PBI PROJECT PERFORMANCE OVERVIEW Our goal was to increase the total number of Black American students enrolled inMiddle College Pathways by 4% per year (20% total). 243 students (236% increase) - Actual performance has far exceeded the total number ofstudents projected. This includes the entire pipeline, including entry-level students who may notchoose to enter senior-level courses. 129 of these students enrolled in Nursing and Health ScienceMiddle College Pathway courses. Our goal was to increase the number of Black American students who persist andgraduate from OCtech’s Engineering, Nursing, Health Sciences, and TeacherEducation programs by 10%. 66 students (56 of which were Nursing/HS students) persisted and graduated on time, which wasan 83% increase. Our goal was to increase the number of Black American students achievinglicense/credential success (NCLEX, PRAXIS, NACES, CRC) and moving on to theworkforce or higher education by 10%. 87 students (85 of which were Nursing/HS students) achieved licensure success,which represents an 200% increase.
