The workshop is scheduled for December 7-9, 2021 and will be held atthe KMU Training Center in McPherson, KS.This year, the workshop will includeexpanded theory and practice on powertransformers in addition to distributiontransformers. The material will be dividedinto two segments: Basic Single-PhaseTransformer Connection & Theory andThree-Phase Connections & PowerTransformers. The first segment is intendedto serve as a basic or refresher course onthe basics of single-phase transformerconnections and theory, as well as safework practices and basic calculations. TheThree-Phase Connections & PowerTransformer segment will start with thebasics of transformers, including turnsratios, polarities, calculations, andtroubleshooting, as well as additional topics.Participants will be challenged by the courseinstruction and hands-on station work thatcan benefit any utility. The workshop will be conducted both in theclassroom and lab with hands-on learning. Avariety of transformer connection optionswill be represented. The various stationsare designed to simulate “real world”scenarios, without real-world dangers.Working in small groups, participants benefitfrom collaborating and further developtroubleshooting methods that can helpmaintain your utility’s reliability.
