Leading The Way In GreenBuilding InitiativesInside you will see our commitment to you has grownbeyond expectations. We as a manufacturer have listenedto the people that matter most (you). We have geared upour manufacturing and supply chains and ready to serveyou. The future is Green and the future is now. UnitedEnertech has embraced that philosophy to the fullest extentwith the addition of our new state of the art 116,000 sqft manufacturing plant, which now yields a total of over212,000 sq ft of manufacturing space.Chattanooga receives on average 213 sunny days a yearand that allows our 103 diffusing skylights to bring innatural light. On as many days as possible you will not finda single light on in our plant. This is a win-win for everybody. The money savingsfrom this we can pass along to you, in addition it helpssave our planet. We believe that all buildings should beconstructed with conservation in mind. This catalog is filledwith products to help building owners reach their goal ofenergy savings or the ultimate goal of applying for LEEDcertification. United Enertech is a member of the UnitedStates Green Building Council and keeps up with the latesttrends and developments to implement into our products. All of our aluminum products qualify for LEED pointsdue to their recycled content as well as the proximity to themanufacturer. Our extruded aluminum is purchased from two plantswithin 150 miles of us that also include their own recyclingfacilities. Also, our state of the art Automated Powder Coating Lineutilizes recycled water from the roof in the pretreatmentprocess saving hundreds of thousands of gallons of freshwater. This line has been optimized to run our products like noother in the industry. We will be running as much powdercoating as possible to limit the number of VOC’s to theatmosphere. We are always a forward-looking company and your inputhas allowed us to be the company that you want. All theemployees of United Enertech are committed to growing thecompany and look forward to serving you our customers.Andy SchwallChief Operating OfficerUnited Enertech

Application and Design ICBL-20-WRUnited Enertech has gained its position as a leader inthe manufacturing of air movement and control equipment by producing high quality innovative products. Inour most recent development, United Enertech teamedup with Applied Research Associates (ARA), a leadingresearcher in explosive dynamics, to develop a multifunctional Blast Damper. The result is a damper/louversystem which can withstand a high yield blast, offer AMCA ratings for water penetration and pressuredrop, and complies with FEMA 361 zone IV criteria,250 mph winds when ordered with the screen. To facilitate the design, ARA examined the effects ofblast loading using Finite Element Modeling and SingleDegree of Freedom calculations. Their modeling replicated a close-in explosive threat, one similar to a carbomb. The simulation was a 200lb TNT surface chargeat a range of 50 feet. The numerical simulation demonstrated that the damper was able to withstand the highpeak incident pressure/short duration explosive loadwith only moderate damage. Further analysis showedthat the blast overpressure downstream of the damperwas greatly reduced by as much as 83%, thereby protecting equipment and personnel downstream. The abilityof the Damper to reduce the downstream overpressurewas accomplished bydesigning a blade profile and linkage systemwhich quickly shuts at theonset of a blast pressurewave. In this simulationof a close range blast, thedamper was able to closein 7 milliseconds. The ICBL-20-WR is idealfor protecting equipmentand personnel from sudden blasts and instantaneous pressure changes.Engineers can design withconfidence when specifying this product.

Application and Design (FEMA-5 and FEMA-8)The FEMA-8 is a heavy duty steel grille designed to protect exterior wall openings against severecircumstances on FEMA 320 or 361 compliant safe rooms and storm shelters. Usually the FEMA-8 is mountedin front of wall louvers, but can be installed in front of exterior wall openings that require protection. Grille design consists of inverted “V” blades which provide high free area and relatively low pressure drop. The FEMA8 provides the ultimate protection against high wind loads and wind-borne debris and is designed to complywith FEMA 361, and ICC 500 storm shelter and safe room standards. Model FEMA-8 is built to withstandwind loads of up to 265 psf.The FEMA-5 is a heavy duty, 5” deep aluminum grille designed to protect exterior wall openings againstsevere circumstances on FEMA 320 or 361 compliant safe rooms and storm shelters. Usually the FEMA5 is mounted in front of wall louvers, but can be installed in front of exterior wall openings that requireprotection. Grille design consists of inverted “V” blades which provide high free area and relatively lowpressure drop. The FEMA-5 provides the ultimate protection against high wind loads and wind-borne debrisand is designed to comply with FEMA 361, and ICC 500 storm shelter and safe room standards.
