VERSATEC VARIABLE SPEED SERIES SPECIFICATION CATALOGAHRI Data cont.The performance standard AHRI/ASHRAE/ISO 13256-1 became effective January 1, 2000 and replaces AHRI Standards320, 325, and 330. This new standard has three major categories: Water Loop (comparable to ARI 320), Ground Water (ARI325), and Ground Loop (ARI 330). Although these standards are similar there are some differences:Unit of Measure: The Cooling COPThe cooling efficiency is measured in EER (US version measured in Btu/h per Watt. The Metric version is measured in acooling COP (Watt per Watt) similar to the traditional COP measurement.Water Conditions DifferencesEntering water temperatures have changed to reflect the centigrade temperature scale. For instance the water loopheating test is performed with 68 F (20 C) water rounded down from the old 70 F (21.1 C).Air Conditions DifferencesEntering air temperatures have also changed (rounded down) to reflect the centigrade temperature scale. For instancethe cooling tests are performed with 80.6 F (27 C) dry bulb and 66.2 F (19 C) wet bulb entering air instead of thetraditional 80 F (26.7 C) DB and 67 F (19.4 C) WB entering air temperatures. 80.6/66.2 data may be converted to80/67 using the entering air correction table. This represents a significantly lower relative humidity than the old 80/67of 50% and will result in lower latent capacities.Pump Power Correction CalculationWithin each model, only one water flow rate is specified for all three groups and pumping Watts are calculated usingthe following formula. This additional power is added onto the existing power consumption. Pump power correction (gpm x 0.0631) x (Press Drop x 2990) / 300Where ‘gpm’ is waterflow in gpm and ‘Press Drop’ is the pressure drop through the unit heat exchanger at rated waterflow in feet of head.Blower Power Correction CalculationBlower power is corrected to zero external static pressure using the following equation. The nominal airflow is ratedat a specific external static pressure. This effectively reduces the power consumption of the unit and increases coolingcapacity but decreases heating capacity. These Watts are significant enough in most cases to increase EER and COPsfairly dramatically over ARI 320, 325, and 330 ratings. TheR-410A product features high efficiency variable capacity compressors with industry leading standard options in a compactcabinet suitable for both retrofit and new construction applications. The product is also targeted to provide optimumperformance and flexibility in both water loop and geothermal applications.The Versatec Variable Speed is a new level of innovation and performancewith all new advanced controls mated with variable speed compressortechnology. Featuring the highest commercial efficiencies (Over 25 EER and7.8 COP ISO/AHRI 13256-1 WLHP) available in AHRI, the Versatec VariableSpeed is available in 4 variable speed capacity sizes (3 to 6 ton) withCopeland Gen2 Variable Speed Compressors and drives.
