In just three decades, that vision isbeing fulfilled. Nationally coveredevents such as Clash of the Titans , The Ronald Reagan Symposiumand Executive Leadership Series, allow students and the greatercommunity to learn firsthand from major world and national leadersabout today's most pressing issues.others and excel in their professions, which include Virginia’s 71stGovernor, Louisiana State Senator, National Middle School Principalof the Year, Hollywood screenwriters, National Milken EducatorAward Winner and Assistant Secretary of Labor.History and LocationThe university was founded for the specific purpose of preparingleaders who would not only succeed in their professions, but alsoadvance as Christians equipped to effectively impact their world. In1977, CBN University was incorporated as a nonprofit educationalinstitution in Virginia Beach, Virginia. In the fall of 1978, 77 studentsbegan classes in modest, rented facilities. By October 1989, CBNUniversity had grown from a School of Communication and the Artsto seven professional schools with nearly 800 students. On January 1,1990, in recognition of this growth, the Board of Trustees voted tochange the name of CBN University to Regent University. Theuniversity has grown to over 10,000 students earning associate’s,bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees at our Virginia Beachcampus or via online learning.Academic Schools: Regent University is comprised of nine schools:Business and Leadership; Communication and the Arts; Divinity;Education; Government; Law; Psychology and Counseling; theCollege of Arts and Sciences, and the College of Healthcare Sciences.The combination of committed leaders and diligent students hasproduced alumni who occupy strategic positions in a multitude ofvenues worldwide. Theaccreditation does not include individual education courses thatthese programs offer to P-12 educators for professionaldevelopment, re-licensure, or other purposes. The School of UndergraduateStudies launches Regent’s first associate degree programs.2011Regent Law celebrates its 25th anniversary. Regent Law’s Moot Court program ranks in the Top 10nationally. Distinguished Professors, Attorney General John Ashcroftand Admiral Vern Clark, mark 10 years of teaching at Regent.The first of five 2016 White House hopefuls, former Florida governorJeb Bush, speaks at Regent-hosted Presidential Candidate Forums.Ohio Governor John Kasich speaks one month later. Regent introduces plans for a state-of-the-art AthleticComplex and welcomes its first athletic director and competitive trackteam.2018Regent Law receives top overall bar passage rate in theCommonwealth of Virginia (February 2018).Regent hosts first cybersecurity summit and also graduates firstcybersecurity students.College of Healthcare Sciences and School of Nursing launched, afterunanimous approval in 2017 by the Regent University Board ofTrustees. First RN to B.S. in Nursing students graduate.Regent is ranked among Top National Universities – U.S. News &World Report, 2019.Regent is named a National Center of Academic Excellence in CyberDefense Education (CAE-CDE) by the National Security Agency(NSA) and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).2017Regent’s School of Divinity achieves historic enrollment of 1,000students for its March session.
