DEAR FRIENDS,With your help, The Whole Child grew tremendously this past year. We nearly doubled our staff count and increasedour service locations from 6 to 11 sites across Los Angeles County. Our Parent Enrichment services tripled, extendingour reach from Southeast Los Angeles County into the San Gabriel Valley region. Furthermore, we strengthened ourFamily Housing service capabilities by entering into the field of housing development. By investing in both interimand permanent housing solutions for homeless families, our agency will be able to offer our mental health, parentingand nutrition services to housing clients residing at our own facilities. Our multidisciplinary approach to combatingfamily homelessness addresses various critical areas to ensure the well-being of children and their parents. This year we completed our 2019-2022 Strategic Vision and Plan developing clear goals and objectives that willguide our efforts for the next three years. This plan ensures a greater alignment both within The Whole Child andexternally with the many partners and collaborators we work with. We are excited to implement all the initiativesdeveloped in order to further our Mission to help families raise emotionally and physically healthy children and havea place to call home.No doubt, the tremendous efforts and openness of The Whole Child team during our fiscal 2018-2019 year, enabledus to expand our reach geographically and break new ground in providing additional services to families in need inLos Angeles County. As we move forward, we will maintain this commitment to Taking it to the Next Level! It continues to be a privilege to lead the team at The Whole Child and to work with our partners in the communitythat make our Mission a reality. To all our team members and Board of Directors, thank you for your relentlessdedication to the families we serve, to our funders and partners, thank you for trusting us with your support!Your partners,Constanza Pachon, MBAChief Executive OfficerMonica Alfaro WellingBoard Chair

It is a treatment model that promotes clientconnection and problem solving that individual treatment maynot provide. Groups can focus on anger, depression, self-esteemconcerns, shyness and numerous other topics. They can act asa sounding board and create a support network. Many childrenbenefit from group psychotherapy as a way of practicingfollowing rules and learning patience. Parents often find benefitin hearing that others are experiencing similar difficulties in theirchild raising and find help from the experience of others as wellas direct guidance from the therapist.Additional benefits of group therapy include the increasedcapacity of helping a higher number of clients and families toreceive needed services.80 Children Served20Therapy Groups HeldFunding Partner

United as a FamilyMy family had to confront a difficultsituation in our lives. My kids werestruggling at school and at home. I didn’tknow what to do. It felt as if my handswere tied. I tried talking with my kids’teachers, requested an IndividualizedEducation Program, went on walks withmy kids, and worked on homework.Nothing seemed to be enough to helpthem the way they needed to be helped. At The Whole Child we had the support ofa whole team. Therapists, psychologists, psychiatrists, nutrition and the FullService Partnership teams helped mework with my children. Our situationcontinues to get better. Together wehave achieved our goal to help mydaughter manage her mood swings. And we now enjoy time as a family.I imagine a future that is moretranquil and where we feel united as afamily. Thanks to The Whole Child, I feelrelieved and supported as a parent. My daughter expresses that she feelsunderstood and my son feels happier. As a mom, that feels pretty great!–Lourdes, Mental Health & NutritionEducation client13

A Place to Call HomeWe were homeless, my son and me, and Iwas unemployed. I left two abusive homes;first to get away from a violent spouse thena threatening situation while staying with afamily member. Things felt so hopeless and Iwas embarrassed about our situation. I triedlooking for work, but I was pregnant when Ileft my husband which made it difficult toget hired anywhere. After my baby was bornI started coming to The Whole Child.Together we worked as a team. Theyhelped us find a homeless shelter, get ahousing voucher, and find an apartment. The Whole Child helped me with the deposit, rent and other helpful services. It was toughin the beginning but The Whole Child staffwas very helpful and caring.Today, I am working full-time and have beenliving in the apartment with my boys for twoyears now. I recently paid off my studentloans, and I am debt free! I look forward toan exciting future watching my boys growup in a peaceful home. The Whole Childhas shown me that there is beauty inthe struggle.–Melina, Family Housing client14
