PRESIDENT’S MESSAGEWelcome to the catalog for the San Juan Campus of Carlos Albizu University! Within, you will findinformation on all the activities of our university, including the programs we offer, our studentservices, and our institutional policies.Since 1966, Albizu has been a pioneer in offering master’s programs in clinical psychology andindustrial/organizational psychology in Puerto Rico. It was also the first to offer Doctor of Philosophy(Ph.D.) programs in these disciplines and a Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.) program in clinicalpsychology. From its starting point in behavioral sciences, the University expanded its programmaticofferings to health sciences when it established programs in speech and language therapy and/orpathology at all its campuses, including the Mayagüez University Center, an extension center of the SanJuan Campus, opened in January 2015.Speech/language therapy and pathology are now among the top professional programs we offer inPuerto Rico. The San Juan Campus also offers an interdisciplinary bachelor’s program that allowsstudents to pursue a concentration in speech/language therapy or psychology.Since professional psychology was its founding pillar, the University has further expanded the master’sprograms in counseling psychology, school psychology, and industrial/organizational psychology.Even with all the information available in this catalog, it is not possible to transmit the appreciation wefeel for anyone interested in our institution. It is also difficult to show here the close relationship andcooperation that exists among students, faculty, and staff. All the activities carried out at Carlos AlbizuUniversity are aimed at promoting and facilitating the academic performance of each student and theprocesses that support the University’s curricular and extracurricular activities. He understood the importance of delivering mental and social services of the highestquality in order to advance the economic progress and social welfare of Puerto Rico and the growingHispanic population in the United States.
