(2) The exception to the plumbing permit requirement listed in 50-60-503,MCA, for plumbing installations on farms having their own individual watersupply or sewage disposal system applies to farm and ranch installationsused in conjunction with an agricultural or livestock raising operation whichare not connected to either a public water supply or public sewer system.Any building used as or in conjunction with a hotel, bed and breakfastestablishment, or other place where sleeping accommodations arefurnished to transient guests for a fee is subject to the requirements of ARM24.301.301. This section and its sub-sections deal with the matter ofplumbing permits. The “homeowner exemption”applies to those dwellings intended for the owner’s personal use and notfor dwellings built on speculation of resale or intended as rental property. (4) The exception to permit requirements listed in 50-60-506(5), MCA, forregularly employed maintenance personnel doing maintenance work onthe business premises applies to personnel on the regular payroll ratherthan personnel under contract. Maintenance work includes the stoppingof leaks in pipes, valves, or fixtures, when such repairs do not involve orrequire the replacement or rearrangement of valves, pipes, or fixtures. (5) The applicant shall complete the plumbing application form anddesignate in the spaces provided the items to be covered by theplumbing permit. (6) No plumbing permit shall be issued for a building or structure underthe jurisdiction of the department, until the building permit has beenissued for said building or structure. The notification shall be given notless than 24 hours before the work is to be inspected. To assist thedepartment with its scheduling of inspections, it is asked that inspectionrequests be made as much in advance of the 24-hour minimum noticetime as possible. Cover (rough-in) inspections are made by a stateplumbing inspector wherever possible. Insulation and wallboard shall notbe applied prior to inspections unless 48 hours, excluding Saturdays,Sundays and holidays have expired after the plumbing installation iscomplete and notice to inspect has been received. (3) Upon completion of the final inspection and approval of the plumbingwork, the department shall, if requested, issue the permit holder acertificate of compliance. (4) If the inspection reveals code violations, the permit holder shall begiven an opportunity to make corrections. If after reinspection theviolation has been corrected, the permit holder shall be issued acertificate of compliance. If such violation is not corrected, the permitholder or other responsible persons will be charged as per 50-60-110,MCA.
