EExtraordinary disposition

ForceOF natureMaserati has a history of naming its cars after the world’s most famous winds. It started in 1963with the legendary Mistral. Then came the Ghibli, the Bora and the Khamsin. And in 2016 theLevante joined the illustrious Maserati range. The wind that bears its name blows across theMediterranean and can change from benign calm to gale force in an instant. The MaseratiSUV has a similar nature, although its powerful forces always remain under perfect control. In true Maserati grand touring tradition, nothing can disturb your comfort – whatever the speed, whatever the distance. This vehicle, for instance, can reach 100 km/h from a standing start in anastonishing 5.2 seconds. At the same time, you are carried in the elegantly appointed, perfectlybalanced luxury of a large and spacious SUV. Even when the going gets rough, the Levantemaintains its elegant composure thanks to our intelligent Q4 AWD system.

As for the design, the Levante is all Maserati, both in terms of its dramatically graceful style and purityof dynamic purpose. There are two trims available: the Levante GranLusso and the Levante GranSport. With the GranLusso, the style is focused on luxury. With the GranSport, it’s more about engaging driving dynamics. Each offers a Maranello-built V6 petrol engine, an enhanced choice of paint colours, trims and alloywheels, new full-LED Adaptive Matrix headlights, and advanced Integrated Vehicle Control that deliversincreased responsiveness and driving safety. This final innovation comes as standard across all versions.A new journey has begun – with the Maserati of SUVs.8

AA history of character

TheTRUESPIRIT OF MASERATIThe Levante SUV embodies the enduring, intrepid and endlessly progressive spirit of Maserati – and it ispart of a story that dates back over 100 years. Maserati officially opened for business in 1914 at number1 Via de’ Pepoli in Bologna. But the wheels were in motion long before that. In 1900, Rodolfo Maserati’seldest son Carlo built a single-cylinder engine and fitted it to a bicycle. He then raced it to victory ina punishing, long-distance rally in northern Italy. Carlo was just 17. A short while later, the intrepidyoungster designed another engine and fitted it to a wooden car chassis. This, arguably, was the world’sfirst Maserati vehicle. The Maserati drive to innovate and passion for speed made the transition into elitemotor sport inevitable. It was a move that reaped countless rewards on the world stage. Here are just afew of the many historic successes: in 1926, Alfieri Maserati drove the Maserati Tipo 26 to victory in itsfirst ever race – the Targa Florio in the mountains of Sicily. In 1939, Wilbur Shaw won the Indianapolis 500at the wheel of the Maserati ‘Boyle Special’ 8 CTF at an average speed of over 185 km/h. He repeatedthis incredible feat the following year, making Maserati the only European manufacturer to win the Indy500 twice. In the late 1940s, Maserati took a luxurious turn by creating the A6 1500 production grandtourer. This was built in our current home in Modena and featured sensuous Pininfarina coachwork. The convertible A6G Frua Spyder soon followed. Since then, all Maserati production models havefollowed this unique formula, offering race-bred performance, captivating Italian design and the luxuriesand comfort you would expect from a prestigious grand tourer. All this is delivered by the latest MaseratiLevante. And the striking SUV design adds yet another compelling dimension to the experience.12

Eexteriors

MaseratiDESIGN LANGUAGEWhen it comes to design language, the Levante speaks fluent Maserati. And wherever you look, themessages are clear and compelling. Visual and functional highlights include an aggressively sculptedfront grille with chromed bars, which is more imposing than ever given the elevated SUV proportions. There are also muscular, arching front wings bearing the iconic triple air vents. And there’s the everpresent Saetta logo in the steeply tapered, coupé-like rear section. Such details, along with framelessdoor windows, the subtle spoiler and quad tailpipes, make an emphatic statement about the unique,all-round strength of this vehicle.16

SophisticatedNEW EXTERIOR SHADESTo enhance your paint options as well as the eye-catching allure of Levante, a striking new shade hasrecently been added to refresh the exterior colour palette: Blu Nobile. It reflects a different side of theMaserati personality and captures the boldness and sophistication for which the Trident is renowned.18BLU NOBILE TRI-COAT PAINTDeep, dark blue with sparkling glass flakes that glisten whenexposed to sunlight and enhance the unique design of theLevante. Shimmering like the tips of the waves in the rollingocean, this is not so much a colour as an enriching visualexperience that transforms each time the car flashes past. Eversince the times of the ancient Egyptians, blue has been blessedwith noble connotations, standing for royalty and favoured byrulers. This imperious shade of blue reflects these aristocratictraditions and perfectly complements the effortlessly flowinglines of the Levante.19

IINTERIORS

EnterTHEUPPER ATMOSPHEREThe interior of the Levante exudes authentic Maserati character. That means elegant Italian style, meticulously crafted finishes and a race-bred energy that inspires long-distance, luxurious travel. Thereis also a liberating feeling of all-round space on board. This, along with the commanding SUV drivingposition, may come as a surprise given the coupé-like exterior. Interior highlights include optional PienoFiore Natural leather on the seats, hand-stitched leather on the dashboard side panels and other surfaceseither in genuine wood or Black Piano trim. The infotainment system comes complete with an elegantaluminium rotary controller. And there is an abundance of clever storage, plus the flexibility of 60/40-foldingrear seats and a 580-litre luggage compartment. This is accessible courtesy of an optional kick sensor, which allows you to open the tailgate by simply moving your foot beneath the rear bumper. Otherpracticalities include dual-zone or optional four-zone climate control and an Air Quality Sensor.22

NewinTERIOR TRIMSThe purposeful ambience of the cabin is another aspect that creates a strong point of difference for Maserati. Three lavish newinterior trims add to the appeal of this sanctuary for the driver, and further increase the options for personalisation.REGIMENTAL OPEN POREA new open-pore wooden veneer inspired by textures foundin the fashion industry and revered by the leading couturiersof Milan. The resulting effect suggests ultra-modern luxury withmore than a hint of sportiness. Like all our new trims, RegimentalOpen-Pore took around a year to develop from original conceptto finished product, as our artisans in Italy patiently perfectedevery detail. The result is both stunning and sophisticated.MATT CARBON FIBRE WEAVEInspired by the Levante Trofeo with its host of exterior carbonfibre features, the 3D effect of the weave pattern adds to thedynamic credentials inside. Every car is completely unique as thecarbon pattern is real, ensuring that it will be slightly differentevery single time. The other beauty of carbon is its extraordinarynatural strength, which prevents the trim from marking andprotects the integrity of the Levante interior from one year tothe next.HIGH-GLOSS METAL WEAVEThis stylish new trim is created by using metallic meshes, andis inspired by contemporary architecture. The elegant chevronweave pattern adds to the sporty feel of the cabin. The qualityof the metal net is so high, and so soft to the touch, that itcould even be used to tailor a shirt. The weave has also beendesigned to remain comfortably cool in summer temperatures.Like the carbon fibre weave, every car is unique as the trim isauthentic and cannot be replicated.25

GGRAN DUO

LevanteGranLussoLUXURY IS ITS FAVOURITE SPORTFor drivers who prefer extra touches of luxury, the GranLusso trim offers a host of refinements.Adding to the protection plates beneath the front bumper – a feature that clearly signpoststhe four-by-four potential – there are now eye-catching chromed inserts. The roof rails havea metallic trim, too.

EENGINES

EpicpowerSMOOTH REFINEMENTThe V6 engines for the Levante are designed by Maserati Powertrain and built at Ferrari’s Maranello plant exclusively for Maserati –they deliver on all expectations. The engines in the different Levante versions offer everythingyou would expect of a Maserati – from snarling responsivenessto effortless long-distance refinement. They are also remarkablyefficient. To achieve this characteristic balance, developers at MaseratiPowertrain in conjunction with the Ferrari Powertrain developmentteam adopted a twin turbocharger design – one for each cylinderbank – plus the latest valve control and high-pressure directinjection technology. Twin turbocharging isn’t new, of course. It was pioneered by Maserati with the Biturbo of 1981, aninnovation the rest of the automotive industry has only recentlycaught on to.Nothing can match the Maserati engine note, however. Withthe Levante, a lightweight exhaust system with bypass valvesensures that it’s delivered to maximum effect. When Sport modeis active – which also sharpens the vehicle’s handling parameters– the valves open, providing the shortest, highest-energy routefor the exhaust gases. The result is optimised performance andthat unmistakably resonant, spine-tingling sound.350 CV V6 TWIN TURBOThe V6 engine in the Levante delivers 350 CV at 5,750 rpmand a peak torque of 500 Nm. The zero to 100 km/h sprintis despatched in just 6.0 seconds and the top speed is animpressive 251 km/h. Combined fuel consumption is 11.1-11.3litres/100 km and combined CO2 emissions are between 251and 257 g/km.430 CV V6 TWIN TURBOThe Levante S is equipped with the most powerful version ofthe V6. Maximum output has been raised to 430 CV and isdelivered at 5,750 rpm. With overboost active in Sport mode, peak torque of 580 Nm is on tap. The sprint from 0-100 km/his dispatched in 5.2 seconds and the top speed is 264 km/h.Combined fuel consumption and CO2 emissions are 11.1-11.4litres/100 km and 251-258 g/km.47

ART OFTheDIESEL - BY MASERATIThe turbocharged V6 in the Maserati Levante diesel offers a captivating combination of massive power, long-distance refinementand impressive efficiency.Developing impressive output of 275 CV and a mighty 600 Nmof torque, the V6 diesel takes the Levante from zero to 100 km/hin a fast and smooth 6.9 seconds and on to a top speed of230 km/h. Notably, 90 per cent of peak torque is available below2,000 rpm for commanding day-to-day driving performance.AUTO START-STOPMore efficiencies are gained from Auto Start-Stop technology, also featured with the petrol engines. The function automaticallydeactivates in Sport mode and when the driver turns off stabilitycontrol.Equally remarkably – and continuing the long-held Maseratitradition of grand touring the Levante can easily achieveover 1,000 km without needing to refuel. As for economy andemissions, the figures speak volumes. Combined fuel consumptionis 7.9-8.3 litres per 100 km and CO2 emissions are between208 and 218 g/km.MASERATI ACTIVE SOUND SYSTEMThe Maserati Active Sound system makes it abundantly clearthat this engine is all Maserati. Two sound actuators underscorethe engine’s most rousing tones and modulate them accordingto driving style. And when the driver presses the Sport button, the vocal performance becomes truly inspirational. The engine features a host of innovations that combine tomaximise fuel efficiency, boost performance and keep emissionsdown. They include Common Rail direct injection, Exhaust GasRecirculation and variable geometry turbocharging.49

TTECHNOLOGY

PerformanceAND COMPLETE CONTROLThe advanced ZF automatic gearbox gives complete, direct and efficient control of the huge power and remarkable flexibility of the Levante. With a new two-lane gear lever featuring a dedicated Parkbutton, the sophisticated eight-speed ZF automatic gearboxdelivers improved comfort, faster gear shifting, better fuelconsumption and increased refinement. The new system negatesthe need for the Manual button, as the driver can now simplypush the gear lever into the left channel to select this mode. The different settings, listed below, can be selected via theswitches next to the gear lever.AUTO NORMAL MODEThis default mode provides smooth gearshifts at low revs tomaximise ride comfort and minimise fuel consumption. Whena sportier style of driving is recognised, upshifts automaticallytake place at higher engine speeds.MANUAL NORMAL MODEWith Manual Normal, the driver can change gear using theoptional paddles behind the steering wheel or the lever onthe central tunnel. The system automatically shifts up whenapproaching the rev limiter, and shifts down at the momentthat best suits the recognised driving style.AUTO SPORT MODEIn this mode, gear changes are faster (under 100 ms) and occurat higher revs for a much sportier driving experience. The exhaustvalves also open to ensure that the iconic Maserati enginesound is heard at its rousing best. Additionally, the ElectronicStability Program (ESP) is less intrusive, giving more controlto the driver, while accelerator responses are sharpened up.What’s more, on petrol-engine versions, overboost is activated. This gives access to peak torque at a considerably reducedengine speed. Integrated Vehicle Control (IVC) adds to theexcitement, giving the driver even more dynamic control.MANUAL SPORT MODEWith Manual Sport, the driver is in full command of thetransmission. A host of other factors also come in to play, making driving the Maserati even more exhilarating. Theoverboost function activates for maximum performance, the ESPis less intrusive, the exhaust valves open up for an even moreaggressive tone and gear changes are quicker and sharper. The accelerator pedal mapping is also more aggressive andthe engine can be pushed to the red line without the systemintervening. The only automatic feature is downshifting if therevs drop too low.53

MANUAL OFF-ROAD MODEWhen the driver selects a chosen speed in this mode, the Levantecontinues at that pace, even when climbing. This is extremelyuseful, for example, when the driver has to concentrate ona challenging ascent. This is because the SUV will effectivelydrive itself while the driver takes care of the steering.AUTOMATIC OFF-ROAD MODEThis mode retains all the benefits of the Off-Road setting butadds the convenience of automatic shifting. This means thedriver can give full focus to the rewards of driving the Levante.I.C.E. (INCREASED CONTROL & EFFICIENCY) MODENot just for use in icy or low-grip conditions, this mode ensuresan even quieter, smoother ride plus lower fuel consumption. In I.C.E. mode, gear changes are almost unnoticeable and takeplace automatically at the optimal point to increase fuel efficiencyand cabin refinement. The boost in the engine is also dialleddown, the exhaust valves remain closed until 5,000 rpm andsmoother accelerator mapping provides unrivalled comfort.55

AnSUV WITH THE SOUL OF A GTThe Levante is a high-riding and luxurious SUV with confidence-inspiring abilities in rough terrain. It’s also engineered, from theground up, to drive like a sporting grand tourer on the open road.ACTIVE AIR SUSPENSIONThe advanced active air suspension raises or lowers the vehicleaccording to need or preference. With six settings to choosefrom, the driver can select whatever height is appropriate forthe road or terrain, from a high clearance for off-roading to alow setting for fast, efficient and smooth motorway driving.Q4 INTELLIGENT ALL-WHEEL DRIVE SYSTEMThis system is developed to deliver the hallmark Maserati rearwheel-drive experience, even when grip is poor. In normalconditions, the Q4 system sends all torque to the rear wheels, for perfectly balanced Maserati driving dynamics and optimalfuel consumption. If traction is lost due to sudden accelerationor low grip on the rear axle, Q4 can alter the torque split from100 per cent rear-wheel drive to 50-50 between the front andrear wheels. It all happens in an imperceptible 150 milliseconds– or less than the blink of an eye. Torque vectoring and amechanical Limited-Slip Differential at the rear axle, uniquefor this class of vehicle, also provide essential support when itcomes to dynamic driving stability.SPORT SKYHOOK SYSTEMThis continuously adapts shock absorber damping to suit thesituation. The system uses sensors that monitor the movementof each wheel and the car’s body to determine the road conditionsand how the car is being driven. It then instantly adjusts the56settings of each damper accordingly. The basic setting prioritisesride comfort, but if more dynamic handling is required, a simplepress of the Skyhook Sport Setting button on the Drive Modecontrol immediately firms up the shock absorbers.ELECTRIC POWER STEERING (EPS)All Levante versions feature EPS as standard, withoutcompromising the responsiveness that is such an important partof our DNA. This system is designed to provide the excellentroad-feel expected from Maserati. It is particularly efficient as itis powered directly by the engine when needed, so there is noneed for a hydraulic pump. What’s more, with no pressurisedfluid under the bonnet, less maintenance is required. The systemadapts its weight according to speed, being lighter and easyto turn when manoeuvring in a tight spot, for instance. Converselyit has a weightier, more connected feel at high speeds. Anotherplus point is integration with active Advanced Driving AssistanceSystems such as Highway Assist, Lane Keeping Assist and ActiveBlind Spot Assist.AIR SHUTTERThe Maserati Levante has a drag coefficient of just 0.31 with afront grille that contributes by continuously modulating airflowto the engine compartment. This delivers a host of benefits, including optimal engine temperature, reduced aerodynamicdrag, improved performance and better all-round efficiency.

InnovationFOR A CONNECTED WORLDA cutting-edge infotainment package puts the focus on intuitive engagement,real-world assistance and adaptable enjoyment. The interior of the Levante is built around a driver interfacethat is intuitive, uncluttered and simple to use. The instrumentcluster features large analogue gauges for the tachometerand speedometer, alongside a 7” TFT display. Major dynamicfunctions are incorporated into the buttons alongside thegearshift, while other on-board settings can be set using theMaserati Touch Control Plus (MTC ) infotainment system atthe centre of the dashboard, or the steering wheel controls forthe 7” TFT display.MASERATI TOUCH CONTROL PLUSThe 8.4” Maserati Touch Control Plus (MTC ) unit takes prideof place at the centre of the Levante dashboard. With very fewbuttons plus a highly responsive interface, it is designed to helpthe driver maintain focus on the road ahead and mastering itis intuitive and easy.MTC can be operated in three ways: via the multi-touchscreen,the rotary control in the central console, or through voicecommands. The system incorporates the car’s radio, Bluetooth ,and satellite navigation system (where fitted), along withconnections to external sources such as mobile phones, tabletsand laptop computers.58Using Aux-in, USB sockets or the SD card reader, you can alsoplay music. In addition, MTC controls the front seat heating,as well as the ventilation, steering wheel heating and theoperation of the rear sunblind, where fitted. The screen displaysthe rear view, with guidelines, for the reversing camera, too.The state-of-the-art system also features both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto mirroring functions. In addition, for iPhone users, Apple’s Siri system acts as a personal assistant, allowingthem to carry out tasks using voice command. Through naturallyspoken language, it is possible to make a call or access music, messages, reminders, emails, websites and much more.WORLD-CLASS AUDIO ENTERTAINMENTThe Levante is offered with three audio system choices.A powerful 280-watt, eight-speaker package is fitted as standardand sets the bar at an impressively high level. You can, however, move up to one of two outstanding options designed for trueaudio aficionados – the 14-speaker Harman Kardon PremiumSound system and the 17-speaker Bowers & Wilkins SurroundSound system.

SSAFETY

AdvancedDRIVING ASSISTANCE SYSTEMSThe Levante is equipped with an impressively comprehensive range of Advanced Driving Assistance Systems. It means even greaterpeace of mind, whether you’re on a continent-crossing grand tour, dashing across town or taking on rough terrain.TRAFFIC SIGN RECOGNITIONIt can be easy to miss traffic signs sometimes, for all sortsof reasons. This is where Traffic Sign Recognition comes in.It monitors three types of sign: speed limits, temporary speedlimits due to conditions such as heavy rain, and no-overtakingzones. It then displays the signs digitally in the cluster display.HIGHWAY ASSIST SYSTEM (HAS)This combines Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop & Go andLane Keeping Assist to make life easier on motorways, whileachieving level 2 semi-autonomous driving. HAS automaticallykeeps the vehicle centred in its lane, at a pre-selected speedand at a chosen distance from the vehicle ahead. It will evendecelerate the Levante through to a standstill as the trafficdictates. To ensure safety, the driver’s hands must remain onthe steering wheel at all times.LANE DEPARTURE WARNING SYSTEMThanks to a camera that monitors road markings, the LaneDeparture Warning system helps the driver keep the vehicle inthe chosen lane on motorways and main roads. This reduceslane drift and the possibility of lateral collisions by providing awarning when the vehicle crosses lane markings without theturn being activated.LANE KEEPING ASSIST (LKA)This provides valuable support if the driver is about tounintentionally leave a lane. A digital camera behind therear-view mirror monitors road markings to keep track of thecourse ahead. If the Levante appears to be moving out oflane unintentionally, LKA actively steps in with correctivesteering torque.ACTIVE BLIND SPOT ASSISTWith this system, a warning icon appears in the door mirrorswhen a vehicle enters the driver’s blind spot. Three levels ofsupport, including corrective steering torque, can be selected ifthe driver nonetheless initiates a lane change.SURROUND VIEW CAMERAThis provides a clear 360 view around the car, helping withparking and highlighting otherwise hidden obstructions. Imagesare captured by two cameras beneath the door mirrors plusfront and rear cameras and shown on the main display screen.ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL WITH STOP & GOAdaptive Cruise Control constantly monitors the vehicle ahead, maintaining a pre-set distance. With the Stop & Go function, the car will also adjust to the speed of the vehicle in front until itcomes to a complete stop, if the stop is less than two seconds.63

FORWARD COLLISION WARNING PLUSThis system monitors vehicles and pedestrians ahead and warnsif the approach could result in a rear-end collision. If the warningdoes not prompt any action from the driver, the AutonomousEmergency Braking system (AEB) automatically applies the brakesto reduce the car’s speed. It is linked to the Advanced BrakeAssist system (ABA), which provides additional braking duringan emergency stop.REAR CROSS PATH FUNCTIONThis is a welcome feature that emits a warning when an unseenvehicle is approaching, from the right or left, while reversingout of a parking space.FRONT AND REAR PARKING SENSORSAND REVERSING CAMERATo assist with manoeuvring in tight spaces, the Levante hasparking sensors in the front and rear bumpers. Beeping noisesincrease in frequency as the obstacle approaches, while theTFT display in the centre of the instrument panel shows the car64surrounded by symbols which light up in green, yellow or reddepending on the remaining distance. In addition, there is anoptional rear-view camera to capture a view of what is behindthe car.HILL HOLDERThis system uses on-board sensors to detect the vehicle’s anglewhen parked facing uphill and briefly maintains braking pressureto allow the driver sufficient time to release the brake pedaland accelerate before the car rolls backwards.HILL DESCENT CONTROL (HDC)HDC allows for a smooth and controlled hill descent on snowor rough terrain without the driver needing to touch the brakepedal. If the vehicle accelerates with no input from the driver, the system will automatically apply the brakes to slow to thedesired speed, which is set using the Cruise Control buttons.Applying pressure to the accelerator or brake pedal instantlyoverrides the system.

ComprehensiveSAFETYEvery Maserati is designed and built to provide world-class levels of safety and peace of mind. Here are the main features offered by the Levante.THE MASERATI STABILITY PROGRAMDeveloped in the most extreme test conditions, the MaseratiStability Program (MSP) uses an array of sensors to constantlymonitor driving status. It can then deploy a host of safety andperformance systems to maintain handling and grip. If, forinstance, a skid is detected, MSP selectively reduces enginetorque and can activate the brakes with finely varied inputs torestore stability within milliseconds. The MSP system also works in harmony with functions includingAnti Slip Regulation (ASR), which reduces wheel spin and improvestraction, and engine torque brake control (MSR) that preventsthe wheels from locking up when suddenly changing down.Additionally, anti-lock brakes (ABS) and Electronic BrakeforceDistribution (EBD) stop the wheels from locking and distributebrakeforce between the front and rear axles. Further support isprovided by the Brake Assistance System (BAS). This recognisesemergency stops and boosts the pressure in the hydraulic circuitto maximise stopping power. A Hill Holder, meanwhile, helpsthe driver when starting off on an uphill slope.INTEGRATED VEHICLE CONTROLIt’s often better to be proactive, rather than reactive – especiallywhen it comes to driving dynamics. Integrated Vehicle Control(IVC) anticipates any issues that could cause instability andcounteracts them in the blink of an eye. The system works byselectively reducing engine torque and applying brakeforceto individual wheels as required. The result, out on the openroad or through sweeping twists and turns, is increased safety, greater driving enjoyment and potentially higher speeds.67

FULL-LED ADAPTIVE MATRIX HEADLIGHTSBeyond just offering distinctive style to the appearance of theLevante, the newly available Full-LED Adaptive Matrix headlightsdeliver additional safety and convenience for the driver andother road users. With 15 LEDs operating at full beam, theseheadlights offer a 200% greater field of vision than traditionalhalogen lights. The ingenious system, which includes an AdaptiveDriving Beam, cleverly turns corners before you do and instantlyresponds to other road users to avoid dazzling them.Rather than simply dipping the headlights automatically, theglare-free High Beam function allows the full beam to continueshining without any danger of affecting oncoming vehicles. It achieves this feat by creating a ‘light tunnel’ which directsthe light away from other vehicles. The system is capable ofcreating up to four light tunnels simultan

eldest son Carlo built a single-cylinder engine and fitted it to a bicycle. He then raced it to victory in a punishing, long-distance rally in northern Italy. Carlo was just 17. A short while later, the intrepid youngster designed another engine and fitted it to a wooden car chassis. This, arguably, was the world's first Maserati vehicle.
