Approved Initial Certification CoursesEach of the following courses has been approved as meeting six months of theexperience requirement. In order for an individual to be eligible for initial certification theymust complete one of the courses titled “Pesticide Use and Safety.” This course will counttowards certification in any category. The course selection for satisfying the other six months ofrequired experience will be dependent upon the individuals needs.If a person wishes to become certified in only one category of pest control, they willhave to take “Pesticide Use and Safety” and one other course approved for the category inwhich they want to become certified. However, if they wish to become certified in more thanone category of pest control, they must take “Pesticide Use and Safety” and one course approvedfor each of the categories in which they want to become certified.If an applicator is already certified and wishes to add another category(ies) but has noexperience, a course approved for the additional category(ies) will suffice for the experiencerequirement. In this circumstance, the applicator will not need to take “Pesticide Use andSafety” as they have already passed the Core exam.The following listing provides the institutions offering courses that have been reviewedand approved by MDA, and the contact person at each institution. The approved courses havebeen listed along with the categories in which they have been approved.
