ARO-FloSeries FRLs are designed with integrated safety features such aslocking bowls and clear multilingual markings. Accessories such aslockout valves, check valves, and soft-start valves allow the airsupply to be safely managed and controlled.Ingersoll Rand attests that ARO-Flo Series of filters,regulators, lubricators (1000, 1500, 2000, 3000 Series)and select accessories are out of scope for ATEXDirective 94/9/EEC or 2014/34/EU. OverviewFiltersRegulatorsARO-Flo compressed air filters are designedto remove airborne solid and liquidcontaminants. Filters can be ordered withdifferent elements, including coalescingmodels which are capable of removing oilaerosols and particles down to 0.3 micron.Standard filters are sold with 5-micronelements; 40-micron elements can bepurchased and installed separately.Air line regulators provide controlled,consistent air pressure as required forspecific pneumatic equipment connected tothe air system. All ARO-Flo regulators areoffered with a standard adjustment rangeof 0 – 140 psig (0 – 9.6 barg). Alternativespring ranges are offered for easyconversion to suit different requirements.Non-relieving regulators are offeredfor applications where the venting ofdownstream overpressure is undesirable.LubricatorsPiggyback Filters / RegulatorsARO-Flo mist-type lubricators help ensurethat pneumatic devices receive the requiredlubrication to maintain peak performance,reduce wear, and prolong service life. Theyare designed to provide the correct amountof oil required for most general applicationsin a pneumatic system, delivering aconstant ratio of oil to air flow. Precise oilfeed adjustment sets the proper oil driprate. Lubricators should be installed closeto the downstream application to ensureeffective distribution of oil.Filter-regulators, or “piggybacks,”combine the functions of both a filterand regulator. Piggybacks are compactand most effective when space is aconstraint. Piggybacks can be orderedwith different filter elements and canbe modified with different springs,depending on the filtration and airregulating requirements.CombinationsFilters, regulators, lubricators, and piggybacks can be combinedtogether to form combinations. They are typically strung together inthe F R L arrangement (three-piece combo) and F/R L (two-piececombo) arrangement, although other configurations are also useddepending on application needs. SelectionWhen selecting an FRL or individual filter, regulator and lubricator units, the air consumption of the tools or equipment to be serviced should be correlatedwith the flow capacity of the FRL. ARO Filters, Regulators and Lubricators are designed to flow in excess of that indicated in the maximumrecommended flow table shown below. Individualtake-off lines to the FRL and airtool or equipment should be fromthe top of the compressed air line.Make sure that air flow markingsare followed for proper flowdirection through the FRL units.To trap and expel water, sludgeand other contaninants whichmay collect on the bottom of theair line, a drip leg drain shouldbe used.
