15Attendance Matters Starting in kindergarten, and even pre-kindergarten, too manyabsences can cause children to fall behind in school. Missing 10 percent (or about 18 days) can make it harder to learn toread(this is also the strict cutoff requirement for receiving the New HavenPromise Scholarship) Students can still fall behind if they miss just a day or two every fewweeks. Being late to school may lead to poor attendance. Absences can affect the whole classroom if the teacher must slowdown learning to help children catch up.

Reporting StudentAbsences STAY HOME WHEN SICK Report an absence by calling the main office oralert the homeroom teacher16
