You will find that the following information will outline the admission requirements, deadline datesand other important relevant information.Imperial Valley College is a two-year California community college located in the desert 120 miles east ofSan Diego and 15 miles north of Mexicali, Mexico. The Imperial Valley is one of the most productive andlargest agricultural areas in the United States. The temperatures are mild in the winter and hot in the summer.The College awards two-year Associate of Arts and Associate of Science degrees.APPLICATION DEADLINES (all application materials must be on file by these dates):FALL DEADLINE: JUNE 1SPRING DEADLINE: NOVEMBER 1NOTE: International students are not admitted to begin their studies at Imperial Valley College in thesummer term or winter intersession.GENERAL INFORMATION:Students will only be admitted for the start of Spring and Fall Semesters.New and returning students will not be admitted for the summer sessions.We do not admit students to English as a Second Language Classes.Applicants must present their high school diploma and transcripts. High school diploma must beequivalent to U.S. high school diploma standards (12 years of schooling)Students must be a high school graduate, have achieved a “B” or 3.0 grade point average (on a 4.0scale) and meet the placement recommendation for the admission as referenced in the Country Index.To be accepted as an International Student, Imperial Valley College requires applicants obtain aminimum score of 56 points on the Internet-Bases TOEFL test (IBT).Applicants must have official TOEFL/IELTS test scores mailed to the Imperial Valley collegeAdmissions & Records Departments to be considered for admission. All courses offered at Imperial ValleyCollege are conducted in English and students must have sufficient command of the English language.Students who can verify that their native language is English may be exempt from presenting TOEFLscores.Submit a 300 to 500 word handwritten essay (Personal statement -include your educational goals andwhy you would like to attend Imperial Valley College).If you currently possess a passport, visa, I-20, I-94, and/or other non-immigrant status, please submitcopies of those documents.NOTE: Additional TOEFL information can be found at www.ets.org/toefl; TOEFL Practice OnlineCommunity information is available at: www.ets.org/toeflpractice; IELTS info is at www.ielts.org.TRANSFER STUDENTS ONLY:Students transferring from a college or university in the United States must have completed 15 semester unitswith a minimum 2.5 grade point average (on a 4.0 scale). ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS:1.Local sponsor REQUIRED for all international students. Sponsors must live in the Imperial Valleyor the Mexicali, Mexico area. Parents may serve as sponsors. The Certificate of Sponsorship mustbe completed in full and submitted with the application packet.2.Evidence of sufficient financial resources. You must provide evidence of ability to meet ourminimum estimated tuition and living expenses for at least one year. Please refer to the FinancialStatement for International Students in this packet. This form must be completed in full and requireddocumentation attached.
