Eating fruits and vegetableshas many health benefits. People who eat a healthy, balanced diet with plenty of fruits and vegetables can help lower their riskfor heart disease, Type 2 diabetes, and some types of cancer. Eating healthy can also help prevent obesity and high bloodpressure. However, many people don’t eat enough fruits and vegetables. Fewer than 1 in 7 adults eat the recommended amountof fruits every day and fewer than 1 in 10 adults eat the recommended amount of vegetables every day.Make a difference: Spread the word about tips for healthy eating and encourage communities, organizations, families, andindividuals to get involved. Here are a few ideas: Spread the word about programs that support local agriculture Encourage families to make small changes, like keeping fresh fruit or carrot sticks within easy reach Motivate local restaurants, stores, and other businesses to provide quality foods made with fresh fruits and vegetablesFor more great ideas to incorporate fruits and veggies into your diet, go to: http://healthfinder.gov/nho/SeptemberToolkit2.aspx Source: l-Sept-2015.pdfPolicy of the Month:Harassment Prevention PolicyBoard of DirectorsGreg MurphyChairRoberta RaasveldVice ChairCarey StormSecretary/TreasurerDavid KuhlmanDirectorDebra McQuillenDirectorShirley GraceDirectorKarin ThompsonDirectorNewsletter StaffContributorsAna N., Jessica R.,Andrea W., Farley O.,Alesia F., Alice O.,Shelley C., Jennifer B.EditorsAlesia F.By CCC AdministrationCommunity Catalysts of California (CCC) will not tolerateharassment based on sex, race, color, religion, national origin, citizenship, age, disability, sexual orientation or any otherprotected status.
