STUDENT RIGHTS & RESPONSIBILITIESEvery student has the right to conditionsfavorable to learning. Students have the right topursue an education free from discriminationbased on race, color, national origin, sex,disability, age, religion, sexual orientation,gender identity or expression, geneticinformation, alienage, or veteran, parental,family and marital status or for any otherreason. Students in the District enjoy freedomof speech, expression and association; the rightto privacy; the right of freedom fromharassment; the right to due process in judicialmatters; and the right to appeal judgments andpenalties for alleged misconduct.Students have the responsibility to conductthemselves, both individually and in groups, in amanner which ensures an atmosphereconducive to teaching, studying, and learning.Students are expected to uphold academic andpersonal integrity, to respect the rights ofothers, to refrain from disruptive, threatening,intimidating, or harassing behavior, or behaviorthat is harmful to themselves, other persons, orproperty. Students have a responsibility toabide by the standards, policies, regulations,and the Student Code of Conduct of OKCPS.SAFETY FOR STUDENTSSAFETY GUIDELINESSafety awareness and the prevention ofaccidents are important goals of each school. afew tips to help keep students safe: Secondary - 35 minutes before the firstschool bell.Walk on sidewalks. If there is no sidewalk,walk on the left side of the road facingoncoming traffic.Cross only at intersections where crossingguards, stop signs, or traffic signals arepresent.Do not approach or enter strangeautomobiles.
