byKennethCopelandYour Words:THE MOSTIMPORTANTTHINGSONEARTH4 : B VOVON THE VERY FIRST PAGE OFGENESIS 1, THE BIBLE TELLS USTHAT WORDS ARE BEHINDEVERYTHING THAT HAPPENSON THIS PLANET. THEY AREWHAT CREATED IT.THE REASON THE EARTHEVEN EXISTS IS BECAUSEIN THE BEGINNING GODSAID, “LET THERE BE LIGHT”(GENESIS 1:3). BEFORETHOSE WORDS WERESPOKEN, THIS PLACE WASA TOTAL MESS.
“The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of thedeep” (verse 2). The Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters, yetdespite the presence of His mighty power, nothing was happening.THE SITUATION DIDN’T CHANGE AT ALL UNTIL GOD SAID.Read through Genesis 1 and you’ll see it’sthe same thing over and over:“God said, Let there be a firmament.and it was so” (verses 6-7).“God said, Let the waters under theheaven be gathered together.and it wasso” (verse 9).“God said, Let the earth bring forth.”(verse 11).“God said, Let there be lights in thefirmament.” (verse 14).“God said, Let the waters bring forthabundantly.” (verse 20).That’s a lot of repetition. But it’s therefor a reason. It’s there not only to revealthe who and the how behind Creation,but to make the point that this is a wordcreated, word-dominated universe. It’sthere so we can see very clearly that“the worlds were framed by the word ofGod, so that things which are seen werenot made of things which do appear”(Hebrews 11:3).Sometimes I hear people say Godmade this world out of nothing. Butthat’s not true. He made it out ofsomething that can’t be seen. He madeit with faith-filled words—and He’ssustaining it by that same creative force.He is “upholding all things by the wordof his power” (Hebrews 1:3).God’s WORD is what’s holding thewhole universe together! His WORD isand always has been the dominating forceon this earth.Think about how the words of Goddominated events surrounding the birthof Jesus, for instance. Think about howthe prophet Micah said, centuries beforeit happened, that Jesus would be born inBethlehem.Those words dominated nations andkings for 750 years! They opened the doorfor the Holy Spirit to move on Caesar sothat, at just the right time, he decided itwas a good idea to send everyone in Israelhome to pay their taxes. As a result, Maryand Joseph went to Bethlehem.What happened when they got there?Mary, a virgin, gave birth to Jesus—whichin the natural was totally impossible.But it happened anyway because of thedominating power of God’s WORD. Youknow the story:Nine months before the trip toBethlehem, the angel Gabriel had visitedMary and said, “You will conceive andgive birth to a son, and name him Jesus,”(Luke 1:31, New Living Translation). Sheasked, “How shall this be?” and Gabrielsaid, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you,and.overshadow you” (verse 35, NLT).Mary believed it, and said, “Be it untome according to your word,” and TheWORD of the Living God went into her.It became the Seed, and the Holy Spirithovered over her and caused The WORDto become flesh.That was a holy moment! It was anamazing miracle—and the miracle didn’t1POINTSTO GETYOUTHERE:Words are behindeverything thathappens on earth;they’re whatcreated it.Genesis 1:2-32God’s WORD is stillwhat’s holding thiswhole universetogether.Hebrews 1:2-33You, as a believer, area living demonstrationof the dominatingpower of God’s WORD.1 Peter 1:234The words of faithyou speak determinewhat you have inyour life.Mark 11:235The same HolySpirit who slungthe universe intoexistence when Godspoke at Creation,will move powerfullyin your life when youspeak words of faith.Proverbs 18:21B VOV :5
stop there. It’s still going on. All ofus who have been born again haveexperienced it!When we heard the gospel and said,“Jesus, I believe what God’s WORDsays about You and I receive You asLORD,” a miracle of grace occurredin each of us that was just as holy aswhat happened to Mary. The sameHoly Spirit who hovered over herhovered over us, and we each became“a new creation”—old things passedGod began, and it’s how He intendsfor you to continue living. He wantsyou to receive everything from Himby speaking words of faith.God’s Holy Spirit is moving in you,over you and around you right now—desiring to release His mighty powerand improve your life. He’s there to healyour body. He’s there to prosper youfinancially. He’s there to bring to pass foryou everything God has promised andprovided you in His WORD.will go to work in your body. God’sWORD will dominate that weakenedcondition, and you’ll become strong.It doesn’t matter how seeminglyimpossible a situation you may befacing, the Holy Spirit can changeit. He still has the same power nowthat He had at Creation. He’s still asmighty as He was when He movedon the words “Let there be light” andslammed this universe into existencewith such force that within 24 hoursTHE HOLY SPIRIT IS WAITINGFOR YOU TO GIVE HIMSOMETHING TO WORK WITH.away and all things became new.What Are You Saying Now?As a believer, you are a livingdemonstration of the dominatingpower of God’s WORD! You’re notjust a forgiven sinner, you’ve been bornagain of the incorruptible seed of TheWORD of God (1 Peter 1:23). Yourspirit has been re-created by the samepower and substance that caused Jesusto be conceived in Mary’s womb.Talk about proof that words are themost important things on earth! Wordsdelivered you out of the kingdom ofdarkness and translated you into thekingdom of God’s dear Son. Wordsspoken by faith enabled you to receiveGod’s gift of eternal salvation.Romans 10:10 says, “With the heartman believeth unto righteousness; andwith the mouth confession is madeunto salvation.” That’s how your life in6 : B VOVBut now, as at Creation, He’s waitingon your words of faith.Jesus said in Mark 11, “Whosoevershall say and shall not doubt in hisheart, but shall believe that those thingswhich he saith shall come to pass; heshall have whatsoever he saith” (verse23). So, whatever you’re saying by faithis what you’re going to get.If your body is weak, and you justkeep talking about how weak you are,you’ll continue to be weak. The HolySpirit won’t have anything to moveon to change the situation, so it willstay the same. On the other hand, ifyou obey the command in Joel 3:10,which says, “Let the weak say, I amstrong,” something entirely differentwill happen. As you say by faith, “I amstrong in The LORD and the powerof His might. He is my strength andmy Redeemer” (Ephesians 6:10; Psalm19:14), the power of the Holy Spiritit spanned some 16 billion, 70 million,400,000 miles.Certainly, if the Holy Spirit cando that, He can handle whatever youneed Him to do. He’s just waiting onyou to say The WORD!One time I was struggling with painin my body that seemed to be almostoverwhelming. I got on the treadmillto work out and I was hurting so badlyI could hardly walk. I shouted at TheLORD with tears in my eyes: “Howlong am I going to have to put up withthis?”Down on the inside of my spirit Heshouted right back at me.Until you give Me something to workwith!If you’ve been in a similar situation,the same is true for you. The HolySpirit is waiting for you to give Himsomething to work with. He’s notholding back God’s BLESSINGS

He’s waiting for you to stoptalking about how bad your circumstancesare and how bad you feel, and start sayingwhat God says. He’s waiting for you tobelieve and consistently declare God’sWORD.“I know, Brother Copeland, but I justdon’t have enough faith to do that. I needGod to give me some more.”No, you don’t. Every one of us, asbelievers, has the same “measure offaith” (Romans 12:3). We received it asthe gift of God when we were born again(Ephesians 2:8). It’s God’s own faith and itis faith of the highest quality.If it isn’t getting the job done in yourlife, you just need to develop it. Youneed to feed on The WORD (“Faithcometh by hearing, and hearing by theword of God,” Romans 10:17) so thatwhat the Apostle Paul said about thechurch at Thessalonica can be said aboutyou: “Your faith groweth exceedingly”(2 Thessalonians 1:3).Depending on how much attentionyou give The WORD, your faith canbecome stronger or it can becomeweaker.
