All you have to dois listen to Jesus.Say and do whatHe tells you to sayand do, and youcan have the samesuccess He had.by Kenneth CopelandintheLiveLearning toKingdomIn the 1980s,right after the fallof communism inthe Soviet Union,I saw somethingI’ll never forget.Iwas ministering inthe Ukraine at thetime, in an old operahouse. Gloria andI were preachingup st a i r s i n t heauditorium where thesinging happens, butthe basement of thatopera house had a horrorstory for a background. It was one ugly place. For years, the KGBhad used it as a place todo their dirty work. Theyhad snatched so-called“enemies of the state”right out of their seatsduring the opera andd r a g ged t hem dow nto t he basement forinterrogation. Many ofthem disappeared forever. The way Gloria andI saw it, however, it wasa great place to havea meet ing! We werehaving lots of fun therepreaching to people whowere hearing the gospelfreely proclaimed for thefirst time in their lives. They were responding by

singing and shouting praises to God.Everyone, it seemed, was thrilled.except for the ushers who’d beenposted at the doors. They were scared. They didn’t knowwhat to do because only a few daysearlier Christians had been killed forsuch activity. So they panicked andlocked the doors. We couldn’t understand it. “Whatare you doing?” we asked. “Are youtrying to lock us in or lock someoneelse out?”They had no idea! They wereconfused because they didn’t knowhow to operate in this new system offreedom. It was a mystery to them.It was no mystery to us, though, because we were raised in it. So westraightened things out. We said,“Unlock the doors!” and they did. Those flustered ushers weren’t theonly ones who had trouble figuringout what to do back then. One ofour ministry Partners who lives inEastern Europe told us it was awidespread problem. He handledit in his family by calling themall together for a meeting. “Weall have to watch the Copelands’broadcasts very carefully now,” hetold them, “because we don’t knowhow to live free and they do.”I’ ll always remember thoseexciting days! I’ll also remember howvividly they illustrated this powerfulspiritual lesson: People who have livedunder a system of oppression and aresuddenly delivered from it, must betaught how to live free.It was true for those people in theUkraine, and it’s true for you and me.Even if we’ve never lived in acommunist country, as believers we’veall faced the same challenge they did.We know what it’s like to live undera system of bondage and then be setfree, because that’s what happenedto us when we were born again. Wewere delivered out from under theoppressive regime of the devil andtranslated into the freedom of thekingdom of God.When it first happened, we wereall just like those ushers at the operahouse. We initially had no idea howto function in our new spiritualenvironment. The operating system ofGod’s kingdom was a mystery to us.Many Christians get the idea it’ssupposed to remain a mystery. Theyhear someone say that God’s ways arepast finding out, so they go to churchand read the Bible without expectingto learn a thing. “Well, you just neverknow what God’s going to do,” theysay. “He works in mysterious ways.”As spiritual as such statementsm ight sou nd , t he y ’re tot a l lyunscriptural. Jesus never said God’sways are supposed to be a mysteryto us. He said just the opposite. Hesaid, “Unto you it is given to knowthe mysteries of the kingdom of God”(Luke 8:10).Do you realize what that means? It means that, as born-againcitizens of heaven, we have accessto inside information. We canunderstand God ’s methods ofoperation. We can study His WORDturned to Peter and said, “Launch outinto the deep, and let down your netsfor a draught.”“Master, we have toiled all thenight, and have taken nothing:” Peteranswered, “nevertheless at thy word Iwill let down the net” (Luke 5:4-5).Notice Jesus said “nets” (plural), andPeter said “net” (singular). Why didPeter alter Jesus’ instructions? Becausehe was exhausted from the night’swork. He’d already washed all his nets.He didn’t want to throw them back inthe sea and get them dirty again justbecause this preacher—who obviouslyknew nothing about fishing—thoughtit would be a good idea. So he choseto use just one old, rotten net so itwouldn’t matter if he didn’t have theenergy to wash it again later.Of course, Peter soon regrettedhis choice because when he threwthe net into the water, so many fishjumped into it that it broke. He hadHe was offering them the opportunity to shake off theshackles of the world’s ungodly economic systemand experience the thrill of having their needs supplied by thekingdom of God.and learn the process by which Heoperates. In John 8:31-32, Jesus put it thisway: “If ye continue in my word, thenare ye my disciples indeed; and yeshall know the truth, and the truthshall make you free.”Lessons Fromthe MasterThis kind of inside information willchange your life!If you want to see how, just look atwhat happened to Peter in the NewTestament. The first time Jesus gavehim a command, he knew nothingabout Kingdom operations. He hadno idea how to cooperate with them.So he missed a major opportunity. You probably remember the story.Jesus had borrowed Peter’s fishingboat and preached from it to themultitudes on the Galilean shore. After finishing His message, Heto call his fishing partners to comehelp him. While they hauled in thecatch of a lifetime, Peter fell down atJesus’ knees right there in the boat. With fish tails slapping him in theface, he said, “Depart from me; forI am a sinful man, O Lord. For hewas astonished, and all that werewith him, at the draught of the fisheswhich they had taken” (verses 8-9).Just think what that must have beenlike for Peter! Even though the fishingtrip was a success for his partners, forhim personally it was one colossalfailure. Why? Because he did not yethave any insight into the mysteries ofGod’s kingdom. Some time later, however, it wasa whole different story. When theTemple tax collectors came arounddemanding money, Peter didn’t evenf linch when Jesus told him, onceagain, to go fishing. “Go thou to thesea, and cast an hook,” He said, “andJa n ' 1 4: B VOV:5

take up the fish that first comethup; and when thou hast opened hismouth, thou shalt find a piece ofmoney: that take, and give unto themfor me and thee” (Matthew 17:27).Ta lk about a strange set ofinstructions! Jesus didn’t even tellIntroducingPeter to use any bait. He said, “Justthrow in the hook and a moneycarrying fish will get on it.”If Jesus had said something likethat to Peter the first day they met,he probably would have said, “Mister, what have you been drinking?” ButKenneth Copeland’s PersonalNotes Edition New TestamentNearly 50 yearsin the making.#B131101R599It’s an ››exactcopy!Archival-qualityComplete NewTestament, KingJames VersionOrder today!kcm.org.ZA››Jesus’ words in redBrother Copeland’soriginal study notesand highlights0860 10 33 56this time he’d been walking with Jesusfor a while and listening to Him teach. He’d heard Jesus say things like,“The words that I speak unto you Ispeak not of myself: but the Fatherthat dwelleth in me, he doeth theworks. The Son can do nothing ofhimself, but what he seeth the Fatherdo: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise”(John 14:10, 5:19).By watching what happened whenJesus heard and obeyed The WORDof the Father, Peter had gained someinsight into the mysteries of theKingdom. He’d learned that whenyou say and do whatever Jesus tellsyou to say and do, God’s power goesto work and you come out way ahead!Traveling LightPeter wasn’t the only one wholearned this lesson either. Jesus taughtit to all of His disciples. One way Hedid it was by sending them out topreach all over the country equippedwith nothing but the clothes on theirbacks. “Travel light!” He said, “Leaveeverything behind. Don’t even packa spare shirt.” (See Matthew 10:5-10.)Some people think Jesus said thatbecause He wanted them all to bepoor. But nothing could be furtherfrom the truth! He wasn’t tellingthem to be poor. He was offeringthem the opportunity to shake offthe shackles of the world’s ungodlyeconomic system and experience thethrill of having their needs suppliedby the kingdom of God.He was saying, “Come to work forMe, boys. Do what I tell you to doand the Father will see to it you’re wellprovided for.”They obeyed Him and it turnedout just like He promised. At the endof His earthly ministry, Jesus said tothem, “When I sent you without purse, and scrip, and shoes, lacked ye anything? And they said, Nothing” (Luke22:35). They had learned to live free.Read what the Bible says aboutthe rich young ruler and you’ll seehe could have gotten in on the samedeal. Jesus offered it to him the dayhe came around asking about howto receive eternal life. At the end of

their conversation, Jesus said to himsomething similar to what He saidto the 12 disciples. “Sell all that thouhast, and distribute unto the poor, andthou shalt have treasure in heaven:and come, follow me” (Luke 18:22).I nste ad of ju mpi n g at t heopportunity, however, the rich youngruler went away grieved because heknew nothing about the mysteriesof the kingdom of God. He didn’tunderstand that if he’d done whatJesus said to do, he not only wouldhave been a part of His ministry, hewould have ended up richer than heever dreamed.Like the other disciples, he toocould have learned to live free.Ask God to Train YouThis is the process by which God’sentire kingdom operates! This is theway you get out of debt. It’s the wayyou get healed. It’s the way you makethe devil flee from you. This is theway you have days of heaven on earth. All you have to do is listen to Jesus.Say and do what He tells you to sayand do, and you can have the samesuccess He had when He was onearth, in any area of life.“But Brother Copeland, I’m not sureI can do that! Most of the time I don’tfeel like I can even hear God’s voice.”Then forget about your feelings.Focus instead on scriptures like John10:4-5 where Jesus said, “My sheepknow My voice and a stranger’s voicethey will not follow.” Believe that andsay it. Tell The LORD, “I have ears tohear You and I know You’re speaking. So I incline my ears to Your sayings.Sir, I
