Boiler controls and systemsAn extensive range of boiler controls and systems is available. Whether it'sa completely new boiler house plant or a simple blowdown valve replacementSpirax Sarco will have the answer.Boiler blowdown systemsAs steam forms it leaves behindimpurities and dissolved liquids in theboiler water that will concentrate unlessblown down. The TDS (total dissolvedsolids) in the boiler must be controlledaccurately. High TDS will result incarryover of boiler water and impuritiescausing problems with production andplant. Heat recovery systemsFlash steam recovery from blowdownhas two advantages. Steam trapsIt is essential to remove condensate and often air and other incondensable gases from steamsystems, without loss of live steam and then, for energy, efficiency, to return the condensate tothe boiler house. It willdetect if traps are passing live steam or ifthey are waterlogged. The system uses asensor mounted either in the steam trapor in a sensor chamber upstream of thesteam trap with a signal to an external testpoint.Range: 1/2" to 2"; up to 465 psig; carbonsteel, SG iron and stainless steel.
Bimetallic thermostaticsteam trapsThe bimetallic steam traps canconserve energy by dischargingsub-cooled condensate in thoseapplications which can utilize sensibleheat. They are the most robust of allthe thermostatic steam traps, able towithstand waterhammer and corrosivecondensate.Range: 1/2" to 4"; up to 3045 psig; caststeel, alloy steel and stainless steel.Capacities up to 400,000 lb/h.Sealed steam trapsSealed maintenance free steam trapsmanufactured in stainless steel.Range: 1/2" to 1"; up to 650 psig;stainless steel; balanced pressure,inverted bucket and bimetallic versions.Inverted bucketsteam trapsInverted bucket traps are the most robusttype of the mechanical traps and will resistwaterhammer. Also, with a check valvefitted in the inlet, they can be used withsuperheated steam. They are availablewith a wide selection of valve orifices forprecise pressure and load matching.Range: 1/2" to 2"; up to 900 psig; castiron, cast steel, alloy steel and stainlesssteel; capacities up to 20,000 lb/h.Repairable, sealed and universalconnector styles available.Swivel connectorsteam trapsQuick fit steam traps provide for ease ofinstallation and removal without breakingthe pipeline. This facility is extremelyuseful in those installations wherelabour costs are high, or where thereis a shortage of skilled maintenancepersonnel. They provide a drain point forcondensate droplets moving along the pipewall and deflect entrained droplets out of themain flow.
