28 June 2019FROM THE HEADMASTERThis week is the last week of the school year that bears any resemblance tonormality - and it has been a great week! From an outstanding Year 6 concertyesterday evening to The Vaughan Cup athletics event for Years 3 and 4 to theBear Hunt in our woods where the children found a real bear, it has beenwonderful. There is plenty to look forward to next week and I look forward to seeing asmany of you as possible at our Leavers’ Service in the Chapel on Tuesdayand at our Speech Day on Thursday. Before that, we have our Moving UpMorning’ followed by ‘Meet the Teacher’ on Monday afternoon.Best wishes for the weekend (and the Aquathon!).MRS EDWARDS ‘MUSIC4LUNCH’Mrs Edwards’ final Music4Lunch took place this week and it was an event witha twist. Rather than providing a showcase for our children’s musical talents,Mrs Edwards played a variety of pieces on her bassoon. It was very wellreceived, and we hope that she might return for a future performance beforetoo long!‘REASON TO ROCK’The School rock band ‘Reason to Rock’ stormed assembly with ahigh energy set last Monday. The children have been working hard over the last term developingtheir repertoire and honing their performance skills. This was a greatopportunity to show off their abilities and they really enjoyed playingto the school. Well done everyone, Mr Reason was very proud ofyou all.YEAR 3 TRIP TO KNIGHTSHAYES COURTYear 3 enjoyed a wonderful trip to Knightshayes Court this week.During the morning the children enjoyed an informative and funplant workshop with the National Trust volunteers. This wasfollowed by a picnic lunch and a 'Meet a Tree' activity in theafternoon. The children became tree detectives to discover all ofthe facts about their chosen tree. They found out the type and ageof the tree, took bark rubbings and were able to discover the heightof the tree by turning themselves upside down! The day finishedwith a visit to the fantastic play-park.L E A R N I N GF O RL I F E
