E1. Faculty Alignment with Degrees OfferedFaculty teach and supervise students in areas of knowledge with which they are thoroughlyfamiliar and qualified by the totality of their education and experience.Faculty education and experience is appropriate for the degree level (bachelor’s, master’s,doctoral) and the nature of the degree (research, professional practice, etc.) with which they areassociated.1) Provide a table showing the school’s primary instructional faculty in the format of TemplateE1-1. The template presents data effective at the beginning of the academic year in which thefinal self-study is submitted to CEPH and must be updated at the beginning of the site visit ifany changes have occurred since final self-study submission. The identification ofinstructional areas must correspond to the data presented in Template C2-1.E-1

2) Provide summary data on the qualifications of any other faculty with significant involvement in the school’s public health instruction in the formatof Template E1-2. Schools define “significant” in their own contexts but, at a minimum, include any individuals who regularly provide instruction orsupervision for required courses and other experiences listed in the criterion on Curriculum. Reporting on individuals who supervise individualstudents’ practice experience (preceptors, etc.) is not required. The identification of instructional areas must correspond to the data presented inTemplate C2-1.Title andCurrentEmploymentFTE or %TimeAllocatedName*AcademicRank Aboul-Enein,FaisalNon-tenuretrackVisiting Lecturer0.5Belanger, JenniferNon-tenuretrackVisiting LecturerBernier, SaraNon-tenuretrackBigelow, tionaffiliated with inTemplate C2-1Institution(s) from whichdegree(s) were earnedDiscipline in whichdegrees were earnedPhD;MSN;MPHUniversity of Texas HealthScience Center- Houston;University of Texas HealthScience Center- Houston;University of Texas HealthScience Center- HoustonHealth Management,Policy, CommunityHealth; Family NursePractitioner;International Health,Health SystemsHPM0.33MSUniversity of MassachusettsAmherstNutritionNUTRVisiting Lecturer0.25MEdCambridge College(Springfield, MA)EducationNUTRSenior Lecturer,0.72PhDUniversity of sorVisiting Lecturer0.5PhD; MS;MSUtah State University;California State University;Washington State UniversityToxicology; QualityAssurance;Environmental ScienceEHSBourcier, DenisNon-tenuretrackBrown, SusanNon-tenuretrackVisiting Lecturer0.25PhD; MAUniversity of MassachusettsAmherst; Marist ttNon-tenuretrackLecturer0.55PhD; lynNon-tenuretrackVisiting Lecturer0.75MD; MPHUniversity of MassachusettsAmherst; Unversity ofWisconsin-MadisonUniversity of MichiganMedical School; University ofMassachusetts- AmherstMedicine;Environmental HealthSciencesPHPE-7

3) Include CVs for all individuals listed in the templates above.CVs for each individual listed in Templates C1-1 and C2-1 are included in the Electronic ResourceFile.4) If applicable, provide a narrative explanation that supplements reviewers’ understanding ofdata in the templates. University Without Walls (UWW) faculty included in Template E1-2 met at least one of thefollowing criteria: 1. Teach at least 3 courses per year or 50 students per year; 2. Weresignificantly involved in edits or development of the core courses to meet CEPH competencies.Other faculty listed on E1-2 were reported by individual department chairs based on what theyconsidered significant involvement in their department. Tenure track faculty titles include Professor, Associate Professor, and Assistant Professorpositions Non-tenure track faculty titles include Lecturer, Senior Lecturer, Visiting Lecturer, and ResearchProfessor (all ranks)5) If applicable, assess strengths and weaknesses related to this criterion and plans forimprovement in this area.Strengths: SPHHS has an exceptional faculty, with expertise in a breadth of important public health areas. Wehave 59 PIF across our four departments offering Public Health degrees. PIF include tenured,tenure-track, and non-tenure track faculty at all University ranks. These PIF are complemented bynon-PIF, who regularly contribute to teaching within our on-campus and distance education PublicHealth programs. Nearly all faculty hold terminal degrees in the areas in which they teach.Weaknesses and Plans for Improvement: SPHHS has experienced substantial growth in its faculty numbers in recent years and the numberof faculty meet the CEPH criteria for the number of graduate programs offered. From 2016 to 2020,full time faculty numbers increased by 29% (17% increase for tenure track faculty), and the numberof faculty meet the CEPH criteria for the number of graduate programs offered. However, to meetcurricular needs and other strategic plans, additional faculty capacity is needed in somedepartments (e.g. Environmental Health Sciences, Nutrition). Additionally, we recognize theimportance of faculty diversity for providing students with a variety of perspectives and formentoring a diverse student body. SPHHS seeks to recruit additional BIPOC faculty and supporttheir success in achieving tenure and promotion (see also Criterion G). In AY 21-22, we have opensearches for the following positions: Chair, Department of Environmental Health Sciences TT Faculty, Department of Environmental Health Sciences TT Faculty, Health Equity, SPHHS (department to be determined based on expertise of thenew hire) TT Faculty, Department of Health Promotion and Policy TT Faculty, Department of Nutrition NTT Faculty, PHS and MPH (department to be determined based on expertise of the newhire)E-10

NTT Faculty, Department of KinesiologyThese searches are intended to fill critical gaps (e.g. Chair of Department of EnvironmentalHealth Sciences) and/or to expand our teaching and research capacity in key areas (e.g. TTfaculty, Health Equity).Importantly, all faculty participating in these searches are required to complete STRIDE(Strategies and Tactics for Recruiting to Improve Diversity and Excellence) training prior toengaging in search activities. STRIDE is a two-hour training that reviews research-driven bestpractices to recruit for diversity and excellence across every stage in the search process and isdesigned to help faculty produce diverse candidate pools and run effective searches.E-11

E2. Integration of Faculty with Practice ExperienceTo assure a broad public health perspective, the school employs faculty who have professionalexperience in settings outside of academia and have demonstrated competence in public healthpractice. Schools encourage faculty to maintain ongoing practice links with public healthagencies, especially at state and local levels. To assure the relevance of curricula and individual learning experiences to current and futurepractice needs and opportunities, schools regularly involve public health practitioners and otherindividuals involved in public health work through arrangements that may include adjunct andpart-time faculty appointments, guest lectures, involvement in committee work, mentoringstudents, etc.1) Describe the manner in which the public health faculty complement integrates perspectivesfrom the field of practice, including information on appointment tracks for practitioners, ifapplicable. Faculty with significant practice experience outside of that which is typicallyassociated with an academic career should also be identified.SPHHS faculty integrate perspectives from the field of practice by performing practice-relatedextramural service and by engaging experienced public health practitioners in their instructional, research and service activities.SPHHS faculty hold important leadership roles in professional societies and organizations with a strongpublic health practice component.
